mehud7ParticipantFriends of the Animals Foundation, in partnership with FCAT , has been doing TNR work in two sites in Highland Park over the past two weeks. Two of the rescued kittens have been diagnosed with pnemonia, bronchitis, and anemia. They each have a $400 bill at South Seattle Vet. Being small rescue groups and operating entirely on donations, we really need any help West Seattle is able to give. Donations can be made at South Seattle Vet (206) 242-8338 or on our website via paypal http://www.fafseattle.org. FAF is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit so your donation is tax deductible. The kittens and their littermates will be available for adoption in the next several weeks. Thank you!

2krazy4wordsParticipantI don’t think West Seattle is fully aware of just how much work FAF and FCAT do IN WEST SEATTLE. The beginning of this month alone “… trapped 35 cats at a site in West seattle. 22 of them were kittens, 3 adults were put to rest, ONLY 9 adults are going back.”
They VOLUNTEER to do this work everyday in addition to their full-time jobs … in neighborhoods of West Seattle, White Center, Burien, and beyond – FCAT even volunteering over in Eastern WA.
Here’s a recent post on how Marianne of FAF spent a weekend:
“What a great weekend! Helped an 87 year old woman Loretta by trapping five feral kittens, their feral mom, and two others. Visited a barn home (thank you Alley Cat Project) that will take five ferals not welcome back in their home. Also retrapped two to relocate, an unspayed female (spayed tomorrow), and two more kittens from the site. Got two mother cats from a church (got the kittens last week). Finally trapped the last three kittens from under a van. Helped Alley Cat Project trap the last kitten in a colony. And put kittens in two new foster homes (thank you Anna and Robin). A huge thank you to Pamela for housing, feeding, and cleaning everyone. Off to the feral clinic and a barn home tomorrow!”
These organizations work tirelessly, joining forces with other agencies – Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project, Humane Society, etc – for the welfare of our community. Please support them in any way you can.

mehud7ParticipantA HUGE thank you to two amazingly compassionate and generous sisters (at least one a West Seattlite too) for their donations that covered Lloyd and Esme’s entire bill! The kittens are back in their foster homes and doing very well.

mehud7ParticipantThanks DBP! Yes, that is little Lloyd during the week between being rescued and getting very, very sick. Lloyd and his siblings have a new battle, calici, which causes painful ulcers in their mouths. Their foster mom reports that they are still eating and playing-both great signs.

WillsieParticipantEsme’s foster mom here, embarrassing to report but,…. Esme is now Esmen as she is a boy! I’m not that great at sexing the little ones. Marianne at FAF cleared up that confusion as she knows a kitty’s privates as only an expert can!
He is still pretty snorgly with his breathing but is doing much better and doesn’t feel so picked upon as his sister Elsie also has a goobered up eye and is on meds to prevent upper respiratory illness that leads to pneumonia etc,…
The kittens are getting playful and much more snuggly, they will be very adoptable pets once they are big enough and have come so far from their gruesome beginnings!
Thank you community for all your support!
