CarDriverParticipantHad lunch with my niece today. She works for SDOT. While her work area is north of the ship canal figured she’d have good info. Nope. She said the people involved are tight lipped. Why? Good question!!! For some unknown reason they aren’t wanting what is (or isn’t) happening to be public. Guess the taxpayers don’t have a need to know.

aaParticipantDo you read this blog? WSB is constantly providing information and updates. What more could you possibly need to know? Just because your niece doesn’t have info for you doesn’t mean there is secrecy, it means she isn’t working on the project. SDOT has so many projects it seems understandable that staff who aren’t involved in one wouldn’t have knowledge of specifics. It will be done when it’s done.

mark47nParticipantWhy would they want incomplete and/or inaccurate information leaked out? I have an neighbor who’s works for SDOT and he’s not one that I’d consider a reliable source but if he started spouting off it would gain a degree of credence simply because he works for SDOT.
They are trying to control the message the same way that any other agency does and it’s quite reasonable.

CarDriverParticipantMy takeaway here is that SDOT owes the taxpayers (or employees) NO transparency as they are spending our tax dollars perfectly and how dare us question anything they do??. Sorry, but while I do NOT expect “daily updates” I’m one of those ungrateful taxpayers that would like to know how and where my tax money is being spent.

937ParticipantYou see, CarDriver Journalisim is not at ALL what it used to be.
Journalists now regurgitate talking points, the going “narrative” and whatever else pushes any given agenda.
Long gone are the days of the press’ cherished history of “accountability” – lest they have their credentials revoked. ¡Que horror!
Journalists these days are fraidy cats toeing the company line – and as we wish for accountability on one hand, we can $&/÷ in the other and see which fills up first.

Schmitz Park DadParticipantWhen I take my kids back to school in the second week of September, I always say to myself, at least it is still “mid-summer.”

CarDriverParticipantBased on the comments from SDOT they’ve already set the stage for further delays. Here’s hoping they don’t add to the delay’s by letting the low bridge fail. Any bet’s??
