furryfacesParticipantYou, yes you, can make a difference in the lives of Community Cats. Please consider registering for this free webinar. And please share with your FB friends. Alley Cat Allies provide excellent, free training/webinars.

Furry Faces has traps that we loan to our community members for T-N-R [trap-neuter-return: to the site where the cat(s) is currently living]. To borrow, contact us at furryfaces@hotmail.com. We will show you how to use it; suggest where the cat(s) can be taken for the surgery; and share ‘aftercare’ information.

gregsalmonParticipantWe are in the area of Dawson and 42nd. There is a guy that comes around and feeds cats in the alley. We thus are overrun by cats. Anybody who wants a cat should stop by and pick one up!

anonymeParticipantMike, as we all know, tuxedos are the most intelligent cats!

hammerheadParticipantI know the person you are talking about he is the same guy who feeds in the alley way on 41 and findlay a couple of blocks away. He is very difficult to deal with.
I have attempted to trap for the past 2-3 months got only one cat.
Are you seeing kittens?
You won’t need to watch the webinar, you can just call me 206-427-6454

gregsalmonParticipantYes, I occasionally see kittens. I think the raccoons might get one sometimes. I actually saw a coyote kill and run off with a white cat this winter.

Please still give me a call, I can at least get them fixed.
Although dealing the guy who feeds well that is a whole different story.

furryfacesParticipantThanks Mike! We think the more people that learn about Community Cats, the better for the cats, so really appreciate that you keep giving this post the little ‘bump’ that it needs.

null_pointerMemberI also live in this same area on an alley that this guy leaves substantial quantities cat food. He usually puts a huge pile of dry cat food on a piece of cardboard and I’ve also watched him go around and put smaller piles around in various out of the way places (I think he knows that some of us remove the food after he has left so he sorta hides some around). From my observation most of the cats that actually come around and feed and let him pet them (at least while he is there are not feral but are just neighbors cats). The biggest problem I have with the guy is that he leaves so much cat food that just attracts every critter around. There is at least one large coon that seems to have no fear of humans roaming around this alley and the crows are out there all day filling up on cat food plus I’m sure there is an abundance of rats around with all the garbage cans and dumpsters. FCAT can you elaborate on what you mean when you say this guy is difficult? I have been meaning to talk to this guy myself and ask him not to leave food behind. The guy obviously enjoys having the cats come around and petting them, frequently he hangs out and pets them for 30 minutes or more before moving further down the alley.

hammerheadParticipantI know this site very well, I drove by there today. I know greg. We tried for 2 months to get cats. We got one.
This site has been reported to SAS numerous times. So the neighbors have tried and tried to reason with him(Veitnam vet). There is another guy I basically call him a “hermit” (he lives in the white house) I have left flyers, and even his neighbors have talked to him. The cats hang specifically in his backyard.
Last year I trapped about 10 cats about 3-4 years ago over 20 cats were TNR”D.
About the guy I have been told he is Vietnam Vet, well if the guy won’t stop feeding it is next to impossible to trap the cats. He goes out all hours of the night.
Both myself and FAF stayed out till 11 pm to see if we could run into this guy.
One of the neighbors has confronted him and it wasn’t pretty.
So here is the perfect example of humans being the problem. HE will not corporate, by not feeding. So I can not come out and trap them. So you anti TRN people any suggestions.
Actually there are no rats. yes I understand the raccoon issue.
Let me clarify one things about feral cats and their caretakers. The ferals will be friendly to him but when I was there, I did not see one cat. So just because they let him pet him does not mean they can be adopted out. Does that make sense?
This all being said, attempts have been made. I have not heard from the guys that I did help a couple of months ago if kittens have been seen..
You are more than happy to call and I can give you more details
