I have heavy duty U shaped bike lock. It has rusted out and my key wouldn’t work. since then- lost key. Now I need to saw it off. Anyone in the alki-beach drive area who might be a ‘former felon’ who can cut this off for me?

Alki Bike and Board removes locks from bikes for a fee. But you have to bring it there. Not sure how they validate the bike is yours though and you are out of luck if it’s locked to something already. I’ve seen them remove a U-lock before and it is quite a process!

I had the extreme pleasure of watching some fireman house off an anti-choice activist who tried to lock themselves to a vehicle to close down a clinic. Its not easy to cut them off, but it took a mechanic with a mixed gas torch about 20 seconds to pop out the lock mechanism. Still brings a smile to my face. You might want to look for a felon-welder…

As it turns out, a large number of these u-locks can easily be hacked with a Bic pen!

If you search for “bic kryptonite” on YouTube, there are plenty of how-to videos. Way easier than a torch!

use dry ice, (gloves and tongs reccomended) then microwave boiling water.

repeat alternating with a drill hammer. Should crack pretty quick.

Great comments and suggestion, wow! So many choices! Electrical discharge machine is great, Kryptonite bic pen, tongs, felon welder, dry ice,…lots of patience,…maybe I will wait for another summer to pass by!

Awsome replys, thank you. I’m bidding on electrical discharge machine on ebay.
