transplantellaParticipantWe have had our hair done downtown at the Gene Juarez training salon, now three times.
I think they’re good. Most of the people working there are within weeks of graduating from the program and moving into the much pricier Gene Juarez salons and spas.
Go for it. You know where the training salon is behind/next door to Macy’s downtown?
Address and phone # all here:
Gene Juarez Training Salon, Seattle Salon
1901 4th Ave • Seattle, Washington 98101 • (206) 622-6611

MargLMemberMany of the stylists at Ola Salon started at Gene Juarez and would have the same training… dunno about prices tho’ cause I don’t get my hair colored.

mellaw6565MemberChanging – I know this is not in W. Seattle, but I go to a place in DesMoines and my stylist usually only charges about $70 for cut & color/foil. She does a great job and I am really picky about my hair. She was the first person in my entire life that I ever let color my hair.

ellenaterMemberI’d highly recommend Illusions on California. They do a very nice job, are professional but friendly. They also have an early morning special with no style deal. Details on the web site. No tipping policy. My hair was not stripey (did NOT want it stripey), color was great, not brassy, I was very comfortable, and I like the way all the stylists are well trained and work together. It’s a very pleasant place with excellent results. Also, my hair came out super shiny!

charlabobParticipantHere’s another vote for Illusions — they’re not inexpensive (though not downtown Juarez expensive). But the no-tipping policy along with their amazing customer service — and free consultation before they begin — is well worth the cost. In fact, as I was driving to work this morning, *I pulled over* to call and make an appointment.
BTW, I’m not the role model for young and hip, but I am the queen of picky — that usually counts for something. :-)

JLMemberchangingtimes, if you want to splurge on your hair then I would highly recommend Gerrit at Gene Juarez in Bellevue. He has been cutting my hair for years and I’m the pickiest and receive daily compliments on my cut. He charges $60, and the parking is free and worth the trip across the water. And Isabelle does my color (I’m blonde, which can be tricky getting it right, which she does) I think she is about $140 for a full foil. They both do such a great job that I can wait longer in between cuts so it may be more expensive than some but I get a lot more bang for my buck.

CaitParticipantI also know Cat (personally a bit more than professionally) and she’s not only a total sweetheart AND really talented! She dyed and cut really realistic looking flames in my friend’s hair and I was super impressed. If that’s any indication of how she does conventional jobs, you should TOTALLY see her.

clsygalMemberI’ve been going to Shanti on California Ave for a few years, prices -not as much as Gene Juarez, but not Supercuts. I really like Monique if I can get in with her, and I’ve also seen Rachel, and she does a good job also. Their # is 932-5988

SuitsarenotBoringMemberI go to Amy at Scream on Capitol Hill. She is great an charges $20 for a cut and roughly $70-80 for a cut and foil.
