I know there are a ton of threads already about general contractors with recommendations, but I am hoping for a slightly narrower scope here.

We are going to undertake a big remodel soon that involves tearing off the top floor of our house and effectively rebuilding it. Plans are into the city, permits on the approval track, and now we need to find the guy/company to build it.

Do any of you have recommendations for a General Contractor who has done something similar in scope, especially on an old house (ours is 103 years old)?

Please don’t post about your husband/buddy/neighbor. I am only interested in recommendations from someone that has done something similar in scale, and had an excellent experience. And I have had enough bad experiences with contractors that I really only want a personal recommendation if the builder/contractor was excellent.

This type of project is very different than a small bathroom remodel, so I would very much appreciate input from others who have had similar projects done.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Furryfaces – do you mean Ventana Construction? Can you tell me more about your experience, and why you recommend them? Also, what kind of scope of work they performed on your property?

Oops! Yes–Ventana (was responding via my cell phone and that ‘m’ and ‘n’ are very close together.

Feel free to call 321-4729 and we can chat. Would be happy to share.
