we looooooove our dyson. We didn’t get the Animal because we got an awesome deal online for the regular one. Regardless, it is a friggin’ GOD SEND. The only thing I don’t like about it that much is when I have to do the stairs it’s not super light to lug around. Went to BB&B the other day and saw they make a hand held Dyson though!!! That would make doing the stairs feel a lot less like a chore. I also love the bare floor option since we have hardwoods in part of the house. Love being able to see how much crap is getting picked up too.

If it’s time for a new vacuum cleaner, I always buy the upright that is most highly recommended by Consumer Reports. Comparing very expensive vacuum cleaners to their recommendations is a real eye-opener.

It would be wrong for me to copy/paste information from the Consumer Reports website that is intended to be visible to only their paying subscribers, but I think this teaser may be allowed: “New designs and features are producing increasingly high-tech vacuums, but high-priced, feature-laden machines don’t necessarily deliver better cleaning.”

Yes I agree Scott – that’s why when I bought my Dyson it was at the top of CR’s Best Buy list!

i wish i had kept my rainbow.. but it was big and heavy and all those lighter modern vacuums promised so much:(

sometimes downsizing isn’t a good thing.
