bsmommaParticipantI started a team for the NW Walk/Run for Epilepsy, Team B’s Knees. :) I have a few ideas but I thought I’d turn to my fellow West Seattlers for some other fun ideas. Also, if you any desire to join our team you can go to this website: http://www.epilepsynw.org
Thanks!

OliverMemberbsmomma, I would LOVE to hear your fundraising ideas! Coincidentally, I am the Chair of the Board of the Directors of the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest. The NW Walk/Run for Epilepsy is one of our two largest fundraisers. So, send me a pm or respond here. I’m always open to new fundraising ideas!
For those unfamiliar with the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest,we serve individuals and families with epilepsy through a variety of critical support programs, advocacy, and research. Donations support our summer camp for kids with epilepsy, the Hope Mentoring program, seizure training progams for school nurses, first responders and businesses, youth and caregiver support groups, emergency medication assistance for those without health insurance and much more.

bsmommaParticipantI’m new to the whole Epilepsy world. My 3 year old daughter, Brooklyn (we call her B…..hence the name B’s Knees), was diagnosed with Epilepsy in January 2010. There’s no family history of seizures. It’s very frustrating to know that I know as much as the doctors know and still don’t know why this is happening. SO, I am on a mission to raise as much money as I possibly can to help out other families in the same situation and hopefully get some funds for research! As well as support, because it is truely frustrating to not know WHY this happening or if/when it will happen again.
The fundraising ideas we have come up with are:
West Seattle Community Garage Sale. ALL the proceeds will go to the Epilepsy foundation.
My daughter loves to play store so she’ll be manning the beverage and snack table.
My BFF is a Baby Nursery designer and she’ll be selling some of her accessories and 100% of that will be going to the foundation as well.
We bought out a bunch a beaded bracelets from the Childrens Book Store. We’re going to attach a little Bee charm and sell those as well.
I’m interested in seeing if any of the local merchants would be interested in donating a small portion of a specific days sales or on a particular item. Or letting us put the bracelets on the counter or something!
I’m thinking BIG! Any other ideas would be appreciated!

OliverMemberI’m sorry to hear about your daughter. I know what a tough experience that is. So, know that you are not alone and that you are the reason the Epilepsy Foundation exists.
We’ll definitely come to the garage sale and I’ll encourage other board members to stop by, too. Send me the address once details are finalized!

bsmommaParticipantI should probably clarify that just our particular garage sales’ money will be going to the fund…..not the whole Community Garage Sale. :)

WSBKeymasterWe do have at least several folks whose Community Garage Sale Day participation is a fundraiser. Be sure that if you decide to do it, in addition to separate announcements, you also include in your ad copy for the map (part of the registration process, which opens next Thursday) that it’s a fundraiser.
Sorry to hear about what you are going through but we always admire the spirit of fighting to make it better, not just your child but others.

bsmommaParticipantHi Heidi! I am in the process of making some requests for donations from companies within my industry. Most of them want to know who they can contact regarding Fundraising. Do you know who that would be? Feel free to send me an e-mail! staceyfuda@yahoo.com
Thank You!
