Feeding Crows, Pigeons, and Gulls on the sidewalk

What do other people think about this? It’s not illegal, but King County advises against it, as a public health risk.

No one should be throwing anything on sidewalks or right-of-ways, whether it be food, cigarette butts, or other trash. It may be questionable to do it in your own yard, but that’s the only place it is allowable. And it’s not crows, pigeons, or gulls that benefit – it’s rats.

I agree. I love crows, they’re my favorite bird. But this does attract rats, too. The reason I ask is I have been seeing the same woman in the Constellation Park area, tossing handfuls of bird seed on the sidewalk. Of course the birds love it, and follow her down the street. I know it’s not a big deal. I just wondered how others felt about it.
