beerchurchMemberI’m tired of everyone saying Sarah Palin has no foreign policy experience. I clearly remember a time when a famous Russian celebrity visited Cicely to challenge Maurice Minnefield to a chess match. When the Ruskie visitor went to the Brick for dinner and asked for borscht, Sarah had never heard of it. Her then-husband, Holling Vincoeur, was no help. He was distracted by a string of nightmares about his great-great-great-great grandfather Louis XIV of France. Sarah did not freak out. Instead she polled the citizens of Cicely to find out who knew how to make borscht. Luckily Joel Fleischman and Maggie O’Donnell both knew how to make borscht. Of course, they ended up arguing about which one could make better borscht. Anyway, Sarah Palin deftly avoided international crisis by postponing the chess match. Furthermore, she got Ruth-Anne Miller to work as a liaison–convincing Maggie and Joel to make the borscht together. That is some powerful foreign policy experience for sure.
