Last night a fellow commuter and I spent about 5 minutes collecting and moving aside small nails that were scattered in southbound bike lane on Delridge. (Just south of Holden in front of the Home Depot.) I speculated as to whether or not they maybe just fell out of someones truck, but there was no box in site and, as my fellow cyclist pointed out, the nails were spread out over a substantial stretch of the bike lane, suggesting that it was more than a mere isolated spill but someone scattering them in the lane with the intentions of causing harm to bike commuters.

I’ve seen things like this before and it’s absolutely despicable. I would hate for any cyclist to deal with the results of this malicious behavior – be it a flat tire or worse. As you know, Delridge is a main commuting thoroughfare for cars and bikes alike. If you see this kind of behavior in action please report it to the local authorities.

Whether it was deliberate or not, thanks for the heads up and for moving the nails out of the lane. Much appreciated!
