CarinParticipantThoughts re: the AP story entitled “Gov. Chris Gregoire’s whereabouts unknown” recently posted on King5’s Web site?

AnonymousInactiveWeird. She either got offered something in her career or someone has health issues is my guess.

LexMemberLets hope she went to WA to get additional funding for our schools… money to buys salt for our roads….and money to creat real jobs not just government jobs….

mellaw6565MemberI wonder if she’ll do something for Obama, i.e. Cabinet or high level post?

HuindekmiParticipantWhen celebrities do this, they often reappear with… uh… “larger assets”.

LexMemberNah not our Govenor I think she is just taking a breather and getting ready for the new year. However Mellaw6565 I think you might have something there…will be interesting to see.

mellaw6565MemberIs it possible that he might tap her for Secy of Commerce in light of Richardson’s withdrawal? I doubt it, but it’s possible. I can’t imagine she would give up the governorship after her fight with Rossi.

HMC RichParticipantThe following statement has not been approved by the Republican National Committee.
I think mellaw6565 might have something there. She would seem like a good Obama Secretary of Commerce.
The lady does know how to spend money!!!! To her credit she has good experience trading with Asia. She has successfully sued tobacco companies. She has helped in Human Services and dealt with many businesses.
Partisan wise, I hope she goes to DC. Sorry, but I think she has not helped our state much as a Governor. (Nice budget deficit you’re giving us Chris!) I do think this would be a good career move for her.
Tricky Dick Richardson’s downfall is someone else’s gem. At least he isn’t as bad a Blago. (FIB’s – If your from Wisconsin you will know what a FIB is). Chris looks like a saint compared to these guys.
I liked her better when she was our states Attorney General. And it is typical to not get a straight answer from her concerning this “disappearance”.

JenVMemberthey just said on NPR that she is in Iraq, visiting the troops – here is article from the Times.

JoBParticipantI have apparently been asleep at the wheel… why did Richardson withdraw?
and HMC.. you almost said some nice things about gregorie… was that just your elation at the the thought that she might be going to Washington DC;~>
I don’t think we would have gotten Rossi…. who appoints here anyway?
January 6, 2009 at 5:19 pm #653525
JoBParticipantdid anyone see TRs what i am doing remark suggesting she was negotiating secession… ectopia?
too bad her newsman’s instincts weren’t right on this one:)
January 6, 2009 at 5:22 pm #653526
mellaw6565MemberWhy would they keep her visit to Iraq secret? She’s not that big of a security concern – other high profile people go there often and it’s advertised. It doesn’t make sense.
January 6, 2009 at 5:31 pm #653527
SuitsarenotBoringMemberThey keep any political visits quiet in Iraq or Afghanistan until they are nearly done for security reasons. She also was traveling with electeds from other states.
January 6, 2009 at 6:05 pm #653528
HMC RichParticipantCheers to Chris for visiting the troops! Regardless of political affiliation, it shows that she cares about her constituents who risk their lives.
Now I understand my sentence of …”it is typical to not get a straight answer from her concerning this “disappearance”. I was wrong this time.
JoB, you nailed it. But at the same time, I would usually rather have an elected governor and not an appointed governor. Now if they appointed a conservative, then I might change my mind. You know that won’t happen :)
Stay Dry Everyone.

JoBParticipantHMC..
“Now if they appointed a conservative, then I might change my mind.”
you are right.. that wouldn’t happen. Rossi had his chance and he couldn’t convince Washington’s voters.
i for one am glad since his rhetoric is too close to that of the Bush administration.. and we know what happened to deficits under their plan.
Who would want a repeat of that in a failing economy?
January 6, 2009 at 7:06 pm #653530
SuitsarenotBoringMemberThe Lt Governor would become Governor. Brad Owen considers himself a D, but is pretty conservative.
