MrDudeMember…was just issued a Dell D610 laptop from my employer this week. Obviously, my IT rep has the weekend off. Question: How can I adjust the overall “brightness” of my screen display? I’ve tried going into the Control Panel/Display folder/Appearance…but don’t see any directions.
Anyone?? Thanks.

CBMemberLOL, I’m sorry I can’t help, but am thinking what a clever solution you have to the IT dept dominance of the world place we have come to! I am in the same boat, just issued a blackberry, have just barely learned to make outgoing phone calls (dang – those are tiny letters), and am anxiously waiting for the tech-enabled significant other to get home from a business trip before I have to do anything fancier. Sorry I can’t help, good luck!

AnonymousInactiveTry holding down the fn key (bottom row left) and tapping the key that has a sunburst w/up arrow symbol (top row f8 button on my keyboard) until it is desired brightness (there’s a brightness down key too).
Laptops have a built in energy savings feature that decreases the screen brightness on battery power. Unless you change the power saving settings, you need to manually punch the brightness back up if desired. Sometimes, I’ve found mine stays dim even when I plug it back in. Hit the same keys again to change.
You can also download your laptop’s user manual from Dell and save a copy on your computer.

CaptainBroncsMemberI second JT’s recommendation. That should fix it for you.

cjboffoliParticipantMan oh man. And Dell wonders why it is hemorrhaging market share. You need tech support just to adjust the screen brightness.
Go Mac. You’ll never go back.

AnonymousInactivecjboffoli, would love to as soon as they make a laptop I could actually pay for without taking out a loan.

rockhillsMemberJT, I’ve had my laptop for three years and never knew about that function. Once I’ve stopped smacking my forehead and gotten on with my work, my eyes will be much happier. Thanks!
