wakefloodParticipantCertainly don’t need no Vatican, nor Pope, nor College of Cardinals to execute that simple vision that Jefferson offered. And yet, here we have a political (and occasionally military) infrastructure that doles out interpretative dogma on a regular basis and expects to be taken seriously when doing so. Remember when JFK was asked outright in a debate why his Catholicism shouldn’t worry the rest of America should he be elected? The answer he gave was politically astute and eased the minds of many non-Catholics. But he truthfully could have answered that he wasn’t really a Catholic. By any standards of the day, he would have been judged a poor one at best for his infidelities, his ability to lie with a straight face about things like his health and drug use, his spitefulness against enemies, etc, etc. In fact it was his LACK of adherence to the dogma that he wore due to his familial obligations that made him admirable to me. The guy was smart and made many good decisions in spite of his avowed religion. (Bay of Pigs notwithstanding, of course. That fiasco was already on the books the day he took office.)

JanSParticipantI don’t discuss my religion, beliefs, or lack of religion, beliefs with anyone. It’s my business, not yours. I don’t have to broadcast it with a little fish on my car, etc. And it has no bearing on whether I’m a good person or not. It has no bearing on my political stances. It has no place making decisions for the well-being of this nation. It does not give you or anyone the right to judge me, Rich…

HMC RichParticipantI can judge you or anyone else. In fact our country is too politically correct and we do not judge some peoples choices enough. Sorry, but your “righteous” indignation is yours and by stating what you did, and naming me, you also judged someone. Welcome to the club. But I do hope you have a nice day.

JanSParticipant??? Really, Rich? what’s that old bible saying ? “Judge not, etc…”? Explain to me how I was judging you?
It’s another sunny day…not complaining here :) Although we could use a good thunderstorm overnight…as long as the sun comes out again tomorrow :D
