We have our bird feeder hanging on a shepherds hook in the middle of our yard – it’s a tall metal pole that you insert into the ground and has a hook on top for hanging plants or feeders. It’s up off the ground, but away from the trees. I forget where we bought it, but I’ve seen them at the hardware store in the Junction. Ours has only one hook on it, but they make them with 2 or more hooks as well.
