mrsjonesbParticipantHi. My husband and I rent a house with a street-side, majestic, community-renowned weeping cherry tree. We need to have an arborist come out and let us know what we can do to help the big ol’ tree stay around for another 80 years. Most def in need of pruning job, but fear its in need of more than that. Does anyone have a tree service/arborist company that will have the best for the LIFE of the TREE in mind, and won’t tell us it needs to be cut down!? Don’t have a lot of cash to throw around on it either. This is a beautiful tree that everyone drives by and takes pictures of in the spring, even breathtaking in the other 3 seasons as well.
Any ideas?!

anonymeParticipantWell, you usually get what you pay for when it comes to arborists. Sometimes it’s difficult to find someone who can not only do the work correctly, but in an aesthetically pleasing way. Mark Harmon of Stonehedge (a WSB sponsor) is one of the best. Kathy Holzer of Out on a Limb is also very good. I’ve heard good things about Blooma Tree Experts, but don’t know their work first hand. I’d start with Mark, although he won’t be the cheapest…
BTW, if the tree is on the right-of-way (not your property) you may need to get a permit from the City before you can touch it. Call the City Arborist first.

ghar72ParticipantWouldn’t this be something that your landlord would pay for? I know when I rented, tree maintenance wasn’t part of the agreement. Just a thought since you said you didn’t have a lot of cash to throw around.
