My wife & I love this place and dine there fairly often. A couple of recent visits have been startling: non-fresh/wilted salad items,deep-fried yet frozen prawns that weren’t deveined, and even their awesome and to-die-for creme brule has been poorly reworked. We’ve written a letter and hope to get a response, but we fear another quality North Admiral establishment is heading in the wrong direction.

We were there celebrating a birthday just last week. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, (in my humble opinion, you can’t go wrong with the steak salad) and if I’m not here to tell you, if you haven’t tried it, you have to try the chocolate cake with icecream ala-mode. Forgetta ’bout it! Sorry to hear about your experience, but I’d give it another shot!

DrDaddio…I’m glad you wrote the owners. From past experience, he does pay attention to the criticism and suggestions that he gets in the mail, and responds to them fairly quickly. I had a problem shortly after they opened years ago, and because of it, and the owners response, it made me a life long convert and customer…so…yeah, another shot is probably in the future for you, I think. At least I hope so :)

I’m glad! We’ll give it another try. It’s only been the last two visits that were off- after a hundred that were great. Here’s to hoping . . .

The owner was rock solid: he wrote back, showed respect for my concerns, gave feedback to his staff, explained a few things, and encouraged us to return- even providing a gift certificate. My wife & I are eager to give Circa another try.

And just to clarify so that no one is confused, since this is the reopening of a thread from a couple weeks ago – Circa DID reopen on schedule as promised last Tuesday.

We were there last night for burgers, steak and beer after a long day of yard work. Deeelicious! Wish they’d bring back the Hacker Pschorr Hef. It’s our fave.

cruiser – thanks for finally sharing your West Seattle Guinness spot! I’ve been wondering since way back when you mentioned in some other thread that there is at least one spot in WS that does a decent pour. Thought you might have been alluding to the Corner Pocket, but now it makes sense. I’m making my first trek to Ireland this summer and can’t wait to taste the real thing!

What!! Ya mean I wrote that out loud!!

:) I’ve never been in the corner pocket..they pour Guinness?? I better try them so.

I can recommend Circa for the Guinness, ask for a glass off the shelf NOT the fridge as optimum Guinness is not freezing cold.

Now as regards your trip,I was just home last week and carried out some extensive research which I would be glad to share:) Let me know where you are going so I may give you some pointers…tell ya where to go to meet the real folk not the plastic Paddys:)

cruiser – I just responded to your PM.

re: the Corner Pocket, I’m fairly certain they still serve Guinness. Haven’t been there in a while, but the manager (Tom) is Scottish and so knows how to pour a drink. Beware, though, it is a dive bar so you never know what type of crowd to expect. Sunday mornings they show Premier League Football which is always good.

I have been there twice and both times the food took forever. The last time it took over an hour even though there was only 5 tables, mostly with food already on them. Not sure what its like at dinner but they are no longer a lunch option for me as I just don’t have that kind of time in the middle of the day.
