I’m looking for honest opinions as far as reliability and repair costs on these wagons. I often see them in West Seattle so I’m hoping someone has an honest review. I’m looking at a 2010 with 31k miles on it, one owner. My main concern is the cost to maintain. I can get a 2013/2014 Subaru new for the same cost and keep waffling between the two.

Not an Audi owner myself, but the general rule is “If you can’t afford it new, you can’t afford to maintain it used”. Unless you are your own mechanic for most things, the Subaru is the way to go.

The general rule is: Cheap cars are cheaper to maintain. Just stay away from Yugos and Hondas.

There is a huge quality difference between those two cars. You will never regret buying the Audi…until it breaks.

Personally, I would much rather buy a used German car over a new Japanese car, especially when given the choice between an Audi and a Subaru.

But why are you worrying? The car is under warranty for 4 years and 50k miles?

Better yet, buy my 2008 BMW 328xi wagon that is for sale. :) It’s only $21k…

Seriously, though…if you can afford the Audi, you will never regret it. Unless it breaks badly…

(Full disclosure, I own 3 German cars…hopefully soon to be 2…and would never go back regardless of the maintenance cost)

Thanks Dyn99, it’s funny the BMW wagon was also on the list, but it’s been hard to find one with less than 30k on it. I am leaning towards the Audi. It was a turned in lease and has only been worked on by Audi, which is a plus. I can afford the maintenance, but it doesn’t mean I want to if people feel they’ve had issues. The warranty is still good and the dealer is even offering a free extended one.

We have a 2009 Audi convertible. It’s been totally reliable, no repairs and great regular maintenance service at the dealer. I would definitely buy another.
