olderwomenforobamaMemberI lost my Mom last week and now both parents have passed … I will always think of them, but also will have a daily reminder … Since I was a small child they had an old school clock hanging in all the houses we lived in …The clock never worked, but is a beauty … I would like to know if there is a really good clock repair anywhere in West Seattle … Have a place in Lynnwood, but don’t want to drive that far .. Thanks..

miwsParticipantHi, Sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom.
I personally haven’t had an old clock repaired for probably around 30 years now, but, according to this thread, from earlier this year, Russell’s Jewelers in the Junction does clock repair;
They are a very long established business, been in the same location for more than 40 years.
Haven’t been to them in years, myself, but regular poster here, Celeste, speaks quite highly of them.

flowerpetalMemberIt is so difficult losing a parent. My thoughts are with you.
I believe the drive to Lynnwood is worth your time. That clock repair business is the gold standard for repairing old clocks. I love old clocks and have used this business for years. They used to have a shop in the Southcenter area; but it is closed. I made the mistake of going to a clock repairer in Ballard because I thought Lynnwood was too far. Never again will I make that mistake.

celeste17ParticipantI am so sorry about the losing your parents. Its difficult when you are without them. I lost my Dad 10 years ago and I still miss him. I still have my Mom but I know that she will be gone one day and I know that one is really going to hurt. I have been a stay at home daughter (Smile) for a little more then a year now and I know that we have become closer because of it.
When my Dad passed he had a watch that belonged to a great Aunt that he was going to have repaired for me and didn’t get it done. After he died we took it to Russell’s and they had a person who did that type of work and they had to track down parts and even make a couple and it works great. Ron has been the owner with his wife Patty for 30 years. He is honest and if he can’t get the job done he will tell you.
So if you can’t go to Lynnwood try Ron and Patty.
And remember you aren’t alone you have your whole WSB community.

flowerpetalMemberPlease tell us if you go to Russels. Watch repair and clock repair are different beasts. And some watch repair folks accept clocks and then send them off to Lynnwood. I’m not suggesting that the good folks at Russels would do that; I don’t have experience with them.

celeste17ParticipantRon will tell you if he needs to send it out and where he is sending it and how long it should take. He will be in contact with you via phone if it is going to take longer or cost more and what the problem is.

flowerpetalMemberIts nice to read praise about Russel’s. I much prefer raves over rants and Russel’s seems to get lots of kudos.
We are lucky to have them (and Wyatt’s!) in West Seattle.

luckymom30ParticipantI am so sorry for your loss, I too have both parents gone and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of calling them or making a visit and I have to stop myself. Like you I have many items of my parents and grandparents and I also have an antique clock from Germany made in the mid 1800’s.
