Redblack, to which post did I fail to respond? I agreed that it wasn’t provable.

On your other points, I’ve spent more time on construction sites than I have in a cubicle. I know there is racism. I’ve seen it, and been on the receiving side of it. I was a minority going through school in California, and I’ve been picked on, and was in a lot of fights as a kid. Most of which I lost. Anyway, I know there is racism, as we have all seen it, but it is remarkably minor if you consider how many different races we have living togehter.

I believe there are 2 races; the decent and the indecent. (credit that statement to Viktor Frankl. google him.) Skin color means nothing, so we should stop dividing ourselves along those lines, and absolutely not let anybody else draw those lines for us.

“I was a minority once…” sorry but I have to laugh whenever people say that

Are any of you that think there is little racism in this country any race other than white? Any sex other than male? Just curious.

JV, funny how you think that occupiers here are all bad people because a small group dumped feces down steps in another city but that if racism occurs in *some* people in any part of this country that it does not reflect on all of us.Which is it? Are we all reflections of the entire group or only of ourselves?

America is not perfect, there is much racism here and much sexism – also much classism. I see it growing not going way.Maybe you have to be a minority or a woman to see those things because you live them.I don’t know.

JoB… hard to show if you can’t ID them … which is the point. Sometimes the talking points from the left are just hysterical… wanna vote? Prove your citizenship. (Wanna have a pop at the West 5.. pull out some ID..you have to have ID to borrow a library book… get reality based here) perfectly willing to have ME hold a SS card and a government Obamacare card..but not to slip a few illegal voters into the booth?. .. as the four Democrats who will shortly be going to prison for voter fraud in Indiana will be. In fact, if the fraud wasn’t committed.. if you have been following the case.. the Messiah would not have been on the Indiana ballot.

You’re a smart guy, Kootch. See any difference between voter fraud and petition fraud? Fox is calling this voter fraud because it fits their current campaign.

No I don’t see a difference. Did ya happen to note that we require referendum verification. They thought they could get away with it because voting laws are that lax. I am a smart guy… and I understand why Democrats don’t want voter ID… We might have actually been saying “madame” president … much to JoB’s delight.

The difference is.. EVERYONE is required ti show valid ID and proof of citizenship… and that is not supressing the vote… it insures the integrity and confidence in the bedrock foundation of our system. The states are bending over backwards to insure universal access to voter ID cards. Or would you prefer we have yet another government institution with eroded trust and confidence? Tell me… just how does this suppress the vote? What next, no drivers licenses? Everyone who wants to drive seems to manage to get that piece of documentation. Personally, I still think you should take your butts to the public polls and demonstrate your citizenship…. but remember the California motor/voter act? It was designed to get illegal aliens to the polls….

    It cuts both ways too…

Petition fraud is nothing like voter fraud. Admit that much Kootch or you’re just lost in right wing world. Saying there is no difference is total nonsense. What they did relates in no way to the discussion of how to vet voters ah the polls.

“I am a smart guy… and I understand why Democrats don’t want voter ID… We might have actually been saying “madame” president … much to JoB’s delight.”

would a smart guy actually say that?

a smart guy would know that voter ID had nothing to do with that decision.

i may have wished more young women had turned out in support of the “madame” ..

but they are more likely to have ID than elderly women.

    SHOW ME THE VOTER FRAUD.

You guys have been looking unsuccessfully for it for years.

In texas.. they found 6 cases of fraud.

for that they disenfranchised tens of thousands of voters.

I know this is a touchy subject, especially with some (not referring to any race though). I also think there is an ignored issue that often we don’t speak of, or simple fail to recognize.

Question for all of you: when watching TV, an ad airs that pitches for a home security system and the portrayed criminal attempts to break in, but the trusty alarm sends him running, right? Now, what race is the burglar? Well, whites of course. Not black, hispanic, asian, but ALWAYS white and a male too (of course, males commit the majority of burglaries too). Why is this and why is the white male is portrayed when the roll portrayal is that of an idiot? The black always portrays the progressive who has it together. Never are minorities (I don’t care for that word) portrayed in a degrading way; its always whites who have this unflattering depiction. Could it be that whites don’t complain about these things like non-whites? Is this some kind of payback (I never owned slaves. There is no history of slave ownership within my family’s history and I condone slavery, but still, I guess I must pay retribution in some way, right?)?

There is a commercial that airs now and then that explains how racist whites are. Hum? I’ve know discrimination from all races and definitely from homosexuals too, who have denied me work opportunity as soon as they learn that I am married to the opposite sex. If there is one kind of person I have no patients for, it is the hypocrite.

There is no such thing as reverse discrimination. It’s all ugly and not for me.

Redblack, your link actually supports Kootch’s point, that there is voter fraud. (see, I read your links! =)

I don’t care which side does it – left, right, alive, dead – I just want it stopped. This isn’t Russia, Iran, Cuba, or Venezuela.

And if somebody can’t figure out how to get an ID, then help them. You’re not doing them any favors, you’re just there to help yourself at election time, then walk away.

The get out the vote effort should include getting them registered, and if needed, helping them get a basic ID. That’s an elevating proposition. Expect more from our citizens.

the opinion of the courts has historically been that an ID is an effective poll tax, which is unconstitutional. furthermore, i find it funny that people with libertarian bents want to force people to get ID’s to allow them to vote.

you’re right. this isn’t russia. this is america, where no one can force you to get an ID if you don’t want one. and requiring ID to vote disenfranchises voters who don’t want one.

    “papers, please?” please.

one needs to register way before an election. One cannot vote without being registered. The registration form requires some form of ID..either a driver’s license #,OR a WA state ID card # OR the last 4 numbers of your SS. You sign an oath that your info is correct. There is no need to require a voter to provide an ID any further than that, esp. not on election day. Besides..it’s a moot point here..we vote by mail.

so I registered to vote via ID, showed my credentials via DOL and SSN… now you want me to get an Id to back up the credentials? How about an ID to back up my voters ID? Mein Heir, here are my papers.

voter id is a solution looking for a problem. Even the advocates for voter ID, is not for increasing voter participation. The reason is to restrict voters on technicalities. Voter fraud is already being dealt with, sufficiently. Voter ID’s only reason is to suppress voting.

What are the actual numbers with regard to voter fraud? This can’t be an actual issue. There’s no way.

No redblack the courts have NOT seen it as a poll tax. Have you noted that the majority of states have voter ID laws? The DOJ is selectively making accusations only in Republican states. A poll tax was exactly that…. a tax. All of these states do NOT require a fee or tax of any kind.. they have gone out of there way to insure that the ID is issue free of charge. How many do you need WorldCitizen? Without the laws, you can’t determine the integrity of the system. We have folks going to jail… how about a zero tolerance policy? You are opposed to the integrity of the basic right to vote? We can have another government institution that we can dismiss as dishonest, flawed? Perfect… the Grand Ayatollah would find you a kindrid spirit… vote early, and often

“Without the laws, you can’t determine the integrity of the system…”

I was just over in the breastfeeding thread hearing about how laws don’t change anything, too many laws, yada, yada, yada and come over here and its all about law, integrity, blah, blah. What a joke.

Dobro there are certain distinctions. Important ones. Ya hear anyone saying murder, kidnap. arson are “asinine nanny laws” ? No? Didn’t think so. This is potentially a capital offense. You think the consequences might have a bit higher standard of conduct for the prosecution of a person so charged? jammij..there is no requirement for citizenship to get a drivers license. Because you don’t have to be a citizen. See, you don’t have to vote… but if you do, you should prove your eligibility to vote. How you can take infant sucking and cross over to capital offenses… well.. I guess Dobro can find a thread… or try to.

So now not having a voter ID is a capital offense? That is the subject in post 67 which is the one I addressed.

perfectly willing to have ME hold a SS card and a government Obamacare card.

    i almost missed this.

yeah, i can’t wait for my obamacare card. free doctor visits – even for major organ transplants! woo hoo!

all of your examples of holding or showing ID have nothing to do with the cornerstone of our democracy – which is voting.

Getting a state issued picture id is not as easy as you might think . it requires basically the same proof of identification as a passport and now you have have to supply all of that original documentation every time you change states.

that can get expensive especially if you lose your original documentation .

not so bad for a man who keeps the name on his birth certificate but throw in an adoption or relationship related name change or two and it can get both time consuming and expensive and don’t even think you can change your name back to the one on your birth certificate to simplify things . you just add one more certified copy to the list:(

    #753463

    JoB

And that’s only if you are lucky enough to be able to get and afford certified copies of every step of the way.. if no-one anywhere along the way has lost or misplaced or misfiled or simply entered the wrong data entry keystroke along the way
