thisnicMemberI have a friend looking to get some ‘Sailor Jerry’ style tattoo work done… anyone have any personal experiences with Alki Beach Tattoo?
Thanks!

inactiveMemberWhat?
There is a tattoo shop on Alki? My stereotyping is shattered. How have I missed THAT?
My learnin’ just never stops here on WSB. ;)

celeste17ParticipantI have heard good things about Alki Tattoo. A gentleman who works at Coffee to a Tea has had his tattoo’s done by them. I have been thinking of having a tattoo done and was talking to the gentleman about Alki Tattoo.

JenVMemberfor really good Sailor Jerry artwork, try Slave to the Needle. and stay away from Admiral Tattoo whatever you do!

hammerheadParticipantI have had 5 tats done by Admiral Tattoo. 2 of which where free hand lettering. THEY are BEAUTIFUL.

JanSParticipantI can vouch for HH’s tattoos…have seen them, and yes, they’re beautiful…:)
daughter utilizes Lucky Devil on Capitol Hill…hers are wonderful..but I’ve heard people who weren’t pleased with some of the work there…guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, huh :)

barmargiaMemberI second the Slave to the Needle recommendation, I have a tat from them and I’m very happy with it, although they are hard to get appointments with, I was also happy with Vyvvyns below Pike Place Market. I have heard that Anchor in Ballard is a great place also, but haven’t been in myself.

ToddinWestwoodMemberOne more vote for Anchor in Ballard.

JenVMemberhammerhead, you must have gotten lucky you didn’t get the guy who did mine. He was taking phone calls (3 total!) from his ex-wife all the way thru my tat, and the more angry he got at her, the more he took it out on my arm. I thought that was inexcusable, and I will NEVER go back there because of it- even if he no longer works there. If I am paying $100/hr for a tat, stay off the damn personal calls, and don’t grind your anger into my flesh. It’s not too much to ask.

squareeyesParticipantAny suggestions for a good place or specific artist for tattoo redesign? 30 years and 50lbs turned red rose to greenish blob. Have often thought it could be resdesigned into Charlie Tuna. The mental image makes me laugh anyway…

rs261Memberyou should just make it a hellfish logo

missaudreyhorneParticipantYes, I recommend Lucky Devil on Capitol Hill. I don’t actually know anything about any negative reviews, but I am specifically recommending Eric Eye from Lucky Devil. I cannot vouch for anyone else’s work, but Eric has done extremely wonderful work on me. He is a great artist and also very gentle. His line work is amazing!

JeraldParticipantI think you all should start a social group to share body art. But you’d have to decide if us non-tattood would be welcome as observers. Maybe just after the first meeting.

keleesoMemberI have 4 tattoos by 3 different artists. The best one is by Sin On Skin, in Burien. I didn’t think much of the place when I looked at it (it has since moved), but as for the tattoo, the lines are perfect and it requires no touch up (one year later)! I don’t know about the Sailor Jerry designs though.

EibbedMemberTim Holland has been a tattoo artist for about 14 years (I believe) in Hawaii and is now here in Seattle. He just completed my first tat that I have to say was not an easy feat for my weak side–but he was awesome with a really calm bedside manner which this girly-girl needed to get through it. And the best part is…I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! He did beautiful work and I can’t say enough good schtuff about Alki Beach Tattoo. They’re all really cool guys, professional, and sweet. Go there, you WON’T be disappointed!!!

TraciMemberAnother Anchor recommendation. Curtis James is apparently the guy to go to for traditional tattoos…All of my friends love him.

carrieannMemberThese recommendations for Alki Beach Tattoo have me actually considering breaking away from my tried-and-true Slave To The Needle. I’ve only been to Slave for piercings (got my ink done elsewhere) but have friends who swear by some of the artists there. My husband and I each want to get a couple pieces done, so I’ll have to stop in at Alki, soon, and talk to them.

bsmommaParticipantI Love Alki Tattoo! Great work, It’s clean and the boys are nice too!

Caffeine_QueenParticipantI highly recommend Ian at Alki Tattoo. I had an arm piece done there about 3 years ago and have referred many people there since. Everyone has raved about him he’s great.
