BuckeyeMemberI’m looking for an affordable dog groomer. I love my dog, but honestly he is a dog. He doesn’t need the spa experience. I don’t want to pay more for his hair than I do mine.
Any suggestions?

TDeParticipantIt would be good to know how much you pay for your hair services so we can recommend someone within your price range. But, also… think about this when you consider the price of your dog’s grooming:
Will you be having your whole body shaved and/or trimmed up, or just the hair on your head?
Will you be bathed and dried all over prior to your hair cut?
Will you be having your nails clipped, your ears cleaned out and your rear end trimmed?
Is there a possibility you will pee or poop in your chair while getting a hair cut?
Will you fidget in your chair constantly while your hair dresser/barber carefully cuts around sensitive places with sharp clippers and scissors?
Will you bark or yell loudly while you’re in the shop having your hair cut?
And finally… is there a chance you will bite your hairdresser/barber?
Just a few of the reasons your haircut might cost less than your dog’s… :)

Ms. SparklesParticipantI have 3 dogs, 2 small, 1 medium sized. I take all 3 to “Dog City” next to the YMCA on 36th St.

They are mainly a dog daycare, so as a bonus my dogs get to stay and play with the pack for the day.
I get “the works” which includes nail trim and it runs me about $50 a dog. My second to last hair cut was also $50.
I used to go to The Wash Dog, and I liked them as well (and there you can wash you own dog in their specialized baths for much cheaper than professional grooming) but switched to Dog City because they are more convient for me.

acemotelParticipantI go to Muttley Crew up on Admiral by the Met and it’s about $50 for my BIG longhair dog with triple coat. They do a fine job. TDe, ha ha ha. :-)

squareeyesParticipantThread-jacking – but because it’s not in WS I didn’t want to start a new post.
If you’re in search of cat grooming – I finally found a great one in Kirkland. The Whole Cat (and Caboodle). $40 for a lion cut. Even though it’s a hike, I highly recommend them.
And now, back to your regular doggy programming!

BuckeyeMemberThanks everyone! Well I pay $65 for my haircut & have paid that much for my dog.
Groomers should charge whatever the market will bear, that’s not my issue, but if I can find something more reasonable that shouldn’t go against me either. :)

GoGoParticipantI second Canine Casa! I had surgery recently and took both dogs there for the works (bath/anal glands/nails/ears) and they did such a great job! I will definitely go back.

ConvergenceTutoringMemberI second the Wash Dog. Little hard to get appointments, but the girls there do awesome work!

LVBebeParticipantI second “Dog City” next to the YMCA on 36th St. http://www.dogcityseattle.com/ LOVE them. They are awesome, personable, remember my lab and each time greet her with open arms. It’s always a great sign when the dog is excited to get to the groomers.

oceanParticipantI third DogCity
My dog had a bad, VERY bad, experience the last time we went to our usual place. Time for a new place. When I met the people at DogCity I was impressed and happy. Then dog met them and was happy- not just to play there, but to be washed there, too! That says something: dog happily goes to the wash area? Nice!!!
Great people, happy (and *clean*) dog.
Problem solved!
