Miranda Taylor — Gesundheit Acupuncture and Herbs

    http://www.taylorgoodhealth.com.

This woman is incredible–I first went to her when I had excruciating hip pain and no insurance (so couldn’t get a replacement.) It was the first time I’d done acupuncture and she was great — reassuring of my fears and tough on what I needed to do. She literally got me through the year before we actually had insurance. The bob and I still see her for herbs and for AP. She knows what works.

(She’s also very active in the Highpoint community, which has nothing to do with her skill as an acupuncturist but a lot to do with her skill as a human being.)

Thanks so much, I’m calling both of them (and some others) and so far everyone is booked.

    Argh…..

Did you ask them for recommendations? Also, do a search of the forums — I’m pretty sure this topic has come up before and you may find someone there. Type “acupuncture” in the search window and you’ll get several links.

If you need someone right away, check out communichi: http://communichi.org/ They’re excellent — call or set up an appointment online and. The downside is that they do “chair” acupuncture, so you can’t lie on your stomach. But they’re great with everything — Bob and I frequently go there to “fill in.

I haven’t been there yet but Elyce Tajima at Golden Koi Acupuncture was highly recommended to me.

As a veterinary acupuncturist, I refer many of my clients to human acupuncturists. My favorite in West Seattle is Molly Connelly. My own acupuncturist, Ellen Newhouse, used to be in West Seattle but right now is fairly close in Queen Anne. She is absolutely wonderful and worth the short drive. She also does something called sound healing which involves using sound and singing with the needles. It’s a pretty incredible experience.

I just made an appt with Molly for tomorrow morning. The pain in my back subsides as the day goes on so it’s tolerable now. Can’t wait for tomorrow morning though!

    Thanks everyone for your feedback!

GoGo, glad you found a place! If anyone else is looking, I’m totally in love with the fabulous Community Acupuncture Project of Columbia City. It’s not WS, but it’s not too far! They treat in a community setting and have a very reasonable sliding scale to really make acupuncture accessible to everyone. Highly recommended! http://www.acupunctureforall.org/

Laconique, that’s great — it sounds like the same concept as communichi. BTW, some of us have been trying to (thinking stage) set up something like that IN WS. Does anyone think there might be a need?

    Elyce Tajima is another fine Accupuncture practitioner in our community;

    http://www.revolutionhealth.com/doctors/elyce-tajima/1285206

    (206) 271-9939

She helped me get past a nasty accident in ’04; since then she helped one friend of mine with sciatica, and helped another friend and her husband get pregnant.

    True story!

I personally haven’t been to an acupuncturist, but am completely open to that form of treatment.

If you have never tried Network Spinal Analysis, it is an awesome form of Chiropractic, where there are no manipulations, only stimulation of the nerves through energy and light touches. You lay on a massage table, and focus on breathing.

You can find practitioners in Seattle at:

    http://www.naturalchoice.net/sec2/network.htm

    My family personally sees:

    Dr. Chris Abrahamson 206-781-5259

He has been very good. Regardless of what practitioner you would choose, the treatment is awesome…and helps to heal much more than just your back.
