A Message from Deputy Barney Fife

Those of you who were faithful viewers of the Andy Griffith Show will know what I mean when I say that I have taken the bullet out of my gun and put it back in my shirt pocket where it belongs. Thank you all for putting up with me for a few days. While it was not my intention to offend, House is right in that I could have handled the matter differently. While the Internet isn’t exactly Versailles, it isn’t Deadwood any more and I need to remember that.

If I wound up shouting in your ear I apologize.

As part of our ongoing efforts to make all of you internationally famous we’ll be down to take a few pictures of your next gathering. While I’m there please feel free to pull me aside and let me know what you think of what transpired this week and how it was handled.

I for one didnt think it was that big a deal how you handled it – it’s your business and obviously things are going on that we arent all aware of which likely caused you to post in the way you did. This apology and your willingness to hear people out at the gathering next weekend really shows character. Thanks for giving West Seattleites a place to discuss, share, rant and rave. We appreciate it!

Patrick I say you did just fine, and you’ve no need to apologize (or to explain) for how you run your business.

This forum is lightly moderated compared to some I read. I’ve also posted on another forum for more than 5 years where I guess very few WSB forum members would last for more than a couple of posts. You have to have a very thick skin and be able to both dish it out and take it, it’s a wild one but it’s also a huge community of worldwide posters with strong opinions.

Each forum has it’s own personality and vibe, I think WSB is in it’s infancy of finding it’s footing with the forum portion. I suspect a year from now this forum will be a much different place. And I look forward to seeing the evolution.

I was just about to say, “And just what the h*** is wrong with Deadwood?” in keeping with our talents for taking offense (and threadjacking).

I have to come down on the “you did just fine, Patrick,” side too. I didn’t feel yelled at but, as we know, I’m pretty impervious to actually *being* yelled at so I’m not necessarily a good judge.

OTOH, nice apology AND, since you’re threatening photography, *IF* we come, I’ll be the person with the bag over her head and teeny tiny eyeholes. :-)
