I don’t know how to make it a smaller URL sorry-but here are the wait list numbers as of 2 days ago. We went from 36 to 35 on the Sealth list, guess I won’t be holding my breath!!!
That’s 2,873 families waiting to get in to a school other than their assigned school. That’s about 5% of the total SPS population (I saw a 45,000 # in 2007). I don’t know the number of kids who already got in to their school of choice but it would seem to me that that’s an extreamly low number of families to have changed the entire system for??? Lets say 10% of the SPS enrollment went to a school out side of their ‘neighborhood’ – we(they) had to change the system to force that 10% to go to the school they are told to go to. Does that make sense to anyone? I didn’t realize the numbers were so low-but that 2873 on the wait list I can tell you, as 1 of them that 34 ahead of us feels like a million.
