They are complaint-driven. Are you calling in to report the violations you see? I hear parking (“Paul” prefix) units dispatched to parking complaints all.day.long. on police radio. If you’ve reported something that didn’t get ticketed, maybe there’s a reason why, and you can call in and ask them to check the reference number to see why.

If the reason for no parking enforcement is one of financial strains..A solution just might be to write more tickets.
If the parkers I see were ticketed just maybe….their attitude would be nudged a bit.
But……Seems the message being put forth is one that says…”don’t worry about it! There is no enforcement! You do you”
Not a bad idea with people that do not live in areas where parking is at a premium.
If the parkers I see where ticketed we might see enforcement rolling around in Humvees.
Well that is my rant..I’m sure it has been posted before.
    Thanks for reading this droll.

My son found a digital watch with a metal band on California Ave between Charlestown and Hinds. It’s kind of a gold tone, with a faulty clasp, pretty beat up, but I thought someone might want it back. 🙂

We have moved and our new space doesn’t fit a five foot cat tower. It is grey and I am happy to provide a photo of it. Would love to give it to someone instead of the landfill! Pickup in Admiral and I am available to help load it into your car!

If you’re buying in bulk, I’d look at farm-direct wholesale suppliers. They usually have better pricing and more variety than retail florists. A wedding planner I know has ordered from FMI Farms Flower Wholesale for DIY weddings and was really happy with the freshness and quality. It might be worth checking them out for your wedding flowers.

Somewhere in Alki’s parks department, someone looked at a fully plumbed, fully functional public restroom and thought, “You know what this needs? A neighbor.” Enter the Honey Bucket, parked a generous ten yards away like a understudy nobody asked for, ready to be tipped over at the slightest provocation because apparently gravity and drunk beachgoers are undefeated. And just when you’ve settled into your beach chair, digestif in hand, the pump truck rolls up at high noon for its daily house call, filling the salt air with a symphony best described as “diesel meets septic,” serenading everyone within a two-block radius who paid property taxes specifically to avoid this exact soundtrack. It’s less a bathroom upgrade and more a bold civic experiment in seeing exactly how much a beachfront community will tolerate before someone starts a strongly worded……

    Hi all!

After just purchasing our first home, we just wanted to share our experience working with the Scott Monroe & Molly Kemper Real Estate Team.

Scott & Molly represent EVERYTHING you might want in a real estate partnership – they’re both incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, kind, and persistent. My partner and I worked with Scott & Molly to make our very first home purchase. We went into the process super green and in need of a team that would get us up to speed and do a little hand-holding along the way. We learned SO much by working with them. Scott & Molly both bring a valuable set of skills to the table – along with their many years of real estate experience in the Greater Seattle area, they also have backgrounds in construction and architecture which helped us feel secure in our purchase. Each time we went to see a house, we could trust that Scott & Molly could tell us everything we would need to know about the house and what work it might need. We ended up finding a house that we absolutely LOVE and are so grateful to have worked with Scott & Molly to get it done. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re just a fun couple of folks to spend lots of time with as you search for a home! :) I could not recommend them more!

We’re intentionally growing our salon and are looking for up to two experienced stylists to join us beginning September 1.

Located in the heart of West Seattle’s Alaska Junction, our boutique salon is surrounded by one of Seattle’s most vibrant neighborhood business districts. As part of the Alaska Junction Business Improvement Area, our location offers exceptional visibility, steady pedestrian traffic, and an ideal environment for independent stylists looking to continue growing their business.

We believe beautiful work starts with a calm environment for both our clients and the professionals who serve them.

Our salon is known for natural-looking color, lived-in blonding, healthy dimensional hair, and a peaceful, professional atmosphere. Our clientele is primarily referral-based professionals who value quality, consistency, and genuine hospitality. We’re intentionally building a salon where independent stylists enjoy the freedom to run their own business without sacrificing professionalism, thoughtful systems, or an elevated client experience.

We are currently undergoing an elevated rebrand, and we’re excited to have the right team members for this transformation.

    What we provide
    – Bright, relaxed, uplifting atmosphere and work culture
    – Boutique salon in the heart of walkable West Seattle’s Alaska Junction
    – Four styling stations and two shampoo bowls
    – Boulevard booking and checkout system
    – Milbon backbar shampoo, conditioner, and styling products
    – Optional shared color bar featuring Goldwell, Redken Shades EQ, and Schwarzkopf Igora (color costs automatically tracked and deducted through Boulevard)
    – Optional Milbon professional deep conditioning treatments to offer as an additional service for your clients
    – Ongoing Milbon education and product support through our distributor
    – Towels, robes, capes, hot towel service, laundry, coffee, tea, sparkling water, and salon amenities provided
    – Calm, thoughtfully designed. Salon clients consistently compliment for its welcoming atmosphere
    – Ongoing investment into maintaining and improving the salon

    About you:
    – Have an established clientele and several years of experience behind the chair.
    – Specialize in natural, dimensional color, healthy hair, and timeless results.
    – Take initiative and notice the details without being asked.
    – Arrive prepared and value professionalism.
    – Communicate well with both clients and fellow stylists.
    – Enjoy contributing to a relaxed, organized salon culture where everyone helps one another when needed.
    – Are looking for a long-term salon home, not just another chair.
    – Appreciate effectiveness, flow, and mutual abundance

Minimum commitment: 2 days per week.

Stylists keep 100% of their service revenue. Stylists participating in the shared color bar simply pay for the color they use through an automated system. Full-time renters also receive two weeks of reduced-rent vacation annually.

Our salon is built around trust, professionalism, and mutual respect. Everyone here is an independent business owner, and we believe the best salon environments are created by professionals who naturally care for their clients, their craft, and the space they share.

    Interested?
To learn more and apply, please visit apreshairsalon.com and navigate to our For Independent Stylists page.

    Our application includes:
    • Your experience behind the chair
    • Washington State cosmetology license information

    • Desired rental schedule and start date
    • Instagram or website portfolio
    • 3–5 photos of your work
    • A chance to tell us about yourself and how you envision Après Hair Salon as your home.

Miketown, just some kind advice to do your due diligence. Check yelp reviews. Angie’s list is not what it used to be. I’ve had about 7 deck contractors come to give me an estimate this spring/summer. Lots of shady businessmen and businesses. Still haven’t found someone I trust.

Two rooms available now in a calm, clean, owner-occupied home three blocks from the Junction. Rent a room, share the rest. Month-to-month, and everything is included — all utilities, fast wifi, and laundry. That’s $600+ less than a studio, all-in.

Indoors it’s the same story: clean, calm, and well-kept by the owner, who lives and works here.

House basics: no smoking indoors · resident cat, so no renter pets · quiet hours 10pm–7am · occasional overnight guests OK. Not a party house.
