Hi fellow West Seattleites,
I’m searching for a walk partner (or two) for my mom who’ll be moving to West Seattle in August.
My mom is an active and spry 85-year old who can easily go on 2-3 mile walks at a healthy pace with the aid of a hiking pole. She’s also a pretty amiable and pleasant person to chat with. She’s in early stage Alzheimer’s and would benefit from being accompanied to prevent getting lost and to lend a hand in case of an emergency.
Ideally the walk partner would have a relatively flexible schedule and be able to take advantage of dry patches during otherwise wet days. A car would be helpful to drive between our neighborhood in Seaview and her favorite walks at Lincoln Park/Lowman Beach and Alki.
This is primarily a volunteer role, but a small weekly or monthly stipend can be provided based on number of walks per week and time spent per walk.
Reach out to cnaito@gmail.com if interested, thanks!

Topic: Speeding cars on SW Genesse
I’m sorry to be a complainer, but has anyone else observed how people, particularly during morning and evening rush hour, are treating the portion of SW Genesee between Delridge Way and Avalon as their personal racetrack? I’m not so lame that I would sit there with a radar gun to prove my point, but I have eyes and can judge speed as well as the next guy, and can tell the difference between 25mph and 45mph. This wouldn’t be too serious except the north side of the street is all residential, including the 30th Ave SW bus stops for the 50. I’ve had to dodge people who were both speeding and felt no obligation to stop for people getting off the bus, and have seen others having to do the same. There’s no protected crosswalk there(just the pedestrian ramps) and no real way to safely get across the street to access to depart the bus stops. Anyone else having this experience?
