    Topic: Sump pumps??

We live up in Highland Park and get water in our basement every year at this time. We have lived in the same home for over 30 years. About 27 years ago we had a company pour a cement floor so the water would drain down the new drain they put in. We also had a French drain put in around our house as recommended. But after all of this time still has water when it rains heavy and steady…At the time I didn’t know enough to ask about a sump pump. Well I’m ready! Does anyone have any pointers or info regarding a sump pump? Who would I call a plumber or electrician? Help!!

@EdSane, then you and your Mom have been very lucky. I have had numerous (9) cats in my lifetime (62yrs.) and the majority of them have been indoor/outdoor and yes the outdoor ones were less overweight as the 2 I have now but the outdoor ones had fleas, came home injured occasionally and I am sure they pooped in neighbors flower beds and killed a few birds. Oh and yes I had 2 of the 9 get hit by cars so you can look at this both ways, but in my opinion I believe cats are safer inside than out.

    @Krista
    C. the kitty you moved out of more harms way is looking down at you and giving you luv/luv rub (as we call them) against your leg and purring in thanks!

I have a small (6lb), 9 years old, female mix breed who has just gone blind due to a genetic disorder. She seems a bit depressed so I thought if she had a small dog to cuddle with she may feel better. If you have, or know of a dog, that might be a good fit, please contact me at:

Our family had an outdoor cat that lived 18 happy years and died of natural causes. My moms current cat is around 14. I honestly believe both have had a much higher quality of life being able to enjoy the outside and exercise rather then being trapped indoors.

I was the person who moved the poor kitty off the road on Barton. I felt so bad for the poor darling. I admit to crying as I moved him. I have indoor only cats at home and I could never handle letting them outside, ever. Outdoor cats have such shorter lives than indoor cats.

our mail was delivered just fine today (12/26) – and picked up. There has been no delivery since Saturday because of the holiday, but if you think there’s a problem, maybe contact the post office for your area (98116 is served by the location on Calif. Ave, 98126 is served by the Westwood location, etc.)

if you’re cold outside, they’re cold…how sad for these kitties, and for the people who cared for them. There is snow on the ground…they don’t “need” to be out there. A long, long time ago when I was first married (I’m 70 now), we got a kitty, and decided one warm day to let him go outside for the first time. Within a half hour, there was a knock on our door by a distraught woman who had just hit our kitty (Bob, the cat) with her car and killed him(a kind neighbor pointed us out). Needless to say, it was a lesson learned. A very sad one, indeed.

I know I’m not allowed to post comments under the LOST/FOUND Pet Section that might be hurtful but come on pet owners (cats) there are 2 new found deceased cat posts… please, please keep your cat indoors I know it is hard if they are used to going outside but I have 2 of my own and they never go outside.

Here are some reasons to keep them inside:
Safety from cars, other animals, diseases, fleas, no “pooping” in neighbors yards, keep the birds safe, freezing to death, heat exhaustion just to name a few…

Our mail didn’t get picked up or delivered today, 12-26-17 (just checked our mailbox now around 7pm to make sure). Anyone else have this problem?

Occasionally we just don’t get mail, but that seems unlikely since mail hasn’t officially been delivered for the past two days. I imagine the Post Office is pretty hammered today, but it’s still surprising to see no mail. I’m hoping it didn’t get stolen early on, since I know that’s happened a couple of times in WS recently.

Chuck Jacobs, thanks! It’s too late for this year, but these same people will probably put them on their lists for next year — I may just go shopping for them this week : )

Last night my daughter and her friend were sledding by Hamilton Overlook. They ended up in the blackberry bramble (an important lesson in sledding location selection) and she lost her wallet and didn’t know it until this morning…when a young man rung our door bell and returned it to her intact.

Thanks! You saved us a great deal of hassle and some worry.

    Merry Christmas.

Phone dropped out of my bag in the lower field north of the pea patch. Location was found using google but after multiple attempts of searching I haven’t found it. It was in a grey w/light blue Otter Box case. It’s an LG G6. Thanks for any info!

I was walking past Chipotle and found a $25 Olive Garden gift card. I’d hate for anyone to lose a gift. Message me if you’ve lost one.

Hello my name is Dany and I have been searching for a 3 bedroom home for my family in the West Seattle area. My lease is over February 1st and I haven’t had any luck with finding a place to call home. I have a 3 bedroom section 8 voucher for $2000 including wsg, I believe no more then $2,040. I currently work full time as an assistant teacher with the West Seattle Ymca preschool and would love to reside in West Seattle. I have been a loyal tenant where I am staying now for almost 5 years. Reasons for moving is because we are living in a 2 bedroom apartment on the third floor with no elevator and little space. My goal is to get my 9 and 4 year old kids into a home with more space, each of them have their own room and a backyard to play in. I wasn’t sure what to do next and that’s why I am posting this on here. I am hoping this post will reach out to all the private home owners looking for a tenant to rent out their home. I am just a mother trying to do better who just need someone to notice that I am trying regardless of credit scores. I have really great payment history and work references if that means anything. you can leave me a comment with your contact info if you can help. Thank you and god bless

Found an XS jacket at Madison Middle School.

Please email (hyperb at gmail dot com) with description.

It’s likely a student’s jacket. I’m hoping to reunite it with its owner during the holiday break.

I love the store and the staff at True Value. They are knowledgeable, but if they didn’t have the answer, they will go find it instead of giving you salesmanship. They don’t answer with “did you try googling it?” No BS. In the end, they will save you time and blood pressure from a big box. They are very patient with my questions as I try to rebuild the world one #8 nut at a time.

I vote best hardware store popcorn in western Washington.
