Found some bills on the side of the street in North Admiral about 6am this morning, maybe as if they fell out of a pocket while getting in/out of a parked car. Describe if you think maybe they’re yours.

It’s a common misconception that somehow we all know everything that police respond to. We (referring to the wider media community) don’t. As I often try to explain, an increasing # of responses happen off-radio – the officers are dispatched screen-to-screen. So direct reader reports (especially when responses are in progress, of course AFTER authorities have been contacted and everyone’s safety secured) are all the more important. SPD, meantime, only features a microfraction of cases on its blotter website. Anyway – the OP here has now contacted us directly and I’m requesting the report from SPD for starters. – TR

That sounds just awful, I feel for her. I’m surprised this assault didn’t garner more media attention–is there a case number for this attack? I’d be curious how the PD is following up.

@Jan: “I really enjoy this man’s writing. Be forewarned, he doesn’t like the current presidential regime…but this is food for thought…”

I really don’t believe you ever need to worry about people liking 45. I am sadly familiar with the dichotomy the author wrote about in Alaska, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas and western WA too. It’s pretty easy to understand what the author and hinting at (rightfully so) and to use their own words, when you pay attention: “And you notice things.”

Let’s see how it keeps playing out. I am truly enjoying the debacle unfolding however would have preferred it not be necessary in the first place.

I read Jim Wright often and his quite thoughtful in his approach. He doesn’t mince words and backs up his arguments. Jim also doesn’t come at these issues from a dogmatic point of view and his personal background is not one that would suggest such.

This is a particularly insightful column regarding the extremes of society and their political proclivities.

We used to have HUGE issues with these tiny pests. About 6 years ago we started having our house treated by Yohan from Progressive Pest Solutions. We now do a touch up once or twice a year (spring and/or fall) touch up and have not had issues for a few years now. In fact, it is unusual for me to even see an ant in the house anymore. I really recommend, he was affordable, knowledgable. We had been loosing our minds over the ants and it really helped!

If you don’t need them immediately, you can call arborists and tree trimming companies. Sometimes they’ll bring their chips to you if they’re working in the area. It saves them dump fees.

I assume you mean arborist chips that you get for free? Those are not available at a given location, but you can get on a list for a free drop at the Chip Drop website. Unfortunately, you have to take a full load (usually up to ten yards) and there is no scheduling or notice involved. Otherwise, Sawdust Supply is probably the best source and a yard or two will fit in a pickup. Guessing it would cost around $50.

Arbor chips? Do you mean wood chips? Any place that sells bark would also likely have them. We always use Sawdust Supply Co. on 7th Ave. in Georgetown. They are great!

    Hi!
We are getting our house ready to sell and looking for help with yard clean up. Cleaning up fallen debris, pruning back some shrubs, potentially spreading wood chips/mulch in the beds. General spruce up. Any recommendations of local and affordable companies? I think it would be about one half day for a small crew or less. Thanks!

I am very sorry that happened to your daughter. Was she hurt, or did they just steal her lunch money?

As for the gang aspect, do you just mean gang as in a group of kids or gang as in coordinated criminal enterprise? I’m assuming it was the former, as stealing lunch money doesn’t seem like anything the latter would dabble in. I’m often at Hiawatha, at least once a week, and have never noticed anything coming close to what I’d consider gang activity.

As a music educator in White Center, close to West Seattle, I feel a need for the parents of these gang members, most likely due to economics, that cannot spend as much time with their children, which creates a need for their children to belong to a group and ending up in their being accepted by gangs, should have more support from the community. Otherwise, the community will experience effects from such lack of compassion. It always starts in the home. I would teach any gang member FREE MUSIC LESSONS if it would get them to stay off the streets and practice their piano, bass or guitar homework. I want to help my community and I want to help gang members’ parents and families. Call me if you need my help. (206) 835-0840. We all must do what we can to help this world.
