In reply to: Vote for WSB one last time
charlabobParticipantThe charla and the bob have separate machines (and IP addresses) and Bob got the “You’ve already voted” message when he tried to vote for the first time. Anyone figured this out? Thanks!

acemotelParticipant?I don’t understand. It sounds like someone is parking four police cars in random locations in West Seattle? What am I missing?
March 13, 2008 at 2:17 am #617097beachdrivegirlParticipantHillary lost my respect for a couple of different reasons.
The original reason is because I feel that she started the game of dirty politics with Obama. Yes it is an opinion, but in my mind she started attacking him first. She has really given him a lack of respect. He has more experience and is older than Bill was when he ran, but yet he just doesn’t have experience.
Furthermore, I am tired of the way that she continually changes her stance on why she is going to win and consistently changing why she is actually winning. I have more delegates, I have won the popular vote, have won the bigger states. I am sorry I believe that she needs to take a stance and stand by it not change it to favor herself every other month.
I am trying to find a reason to like her, respect her, and vote for her if needed in November, but she is making it very difficult for me.
March 13, 2008 at 2:13 am #617096charlabobParticipantI’m not going to participate in this debate anymore. But I am going to start the STOP McCain thread before someone goes off and starts a GO McCain thread. Go away, maybe. :-)
Meantime, our JoB called in for the last segment of the Rachel Maddow show today (hosted by David Binder). She was, as always, articulate and intelligent in her defense of Ferraro. Binder listened and moved the conversation along. They ran out of time.
Obviously, my mind has not been changed–but I did want to extend props to JoB for her passion and her intelligence in this debate. And say how cool it was to hear someone I know on a call-in show other than Rush. We were driving home from Portland and when they announced, “Joanne from Seattle,” we just knew. We were right.
I don’t think the program is repeated, but you can find a podcast or itunes. (JoB, we also record it on Radio Myway — if you want a copy…or is just me who collects my performances?)
March 13, 2008 at 2:07 am #617299In reply to: How long have you called West Seattle Home?
CroweMemberBack in 98′ lived on California Ave in the cutest apt ever. I loved West Seattle. Left,(Long Story) and now have been back for almost 2 years. When I moved back, I felt like I was “home” I love it here and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in Seattle.

JoBParticipantJeff is a great guy…
and we attended his classes…
and had him over to the house to consult…
and… he believes in Yuki (the people aggressive dog) as much as we do…
but for this aggressive dog.. we got more help from packworks…
and we got strategies that are working for our dog aggressive shiba.
I am not suggesting packworks for every owner of a dog they consider aggressive… although if they can help us do this with these two.. it may be a good investment…
but i am definately suggesting packworks when you have reached the point you think your only option might be putting the dog down.
That one (long and somewhat expensive) training session has turned a major corner for us and restored both harmony and hope.
for those who love the more difficult of dogs.. that can be a life saver.

BBMemberJeff Tinsley (Sound Animals) knows how to deal with aggressive dogs. He has even trained bears for movies. He is a West Seattle guy and extrodinary with dogs.

March 13, 2008 at 1:23 am #617095JoBParticipantWS mom.. i should rent Across the universe.. i hear it is outstanding… but for today i am here.
Kayleigh, i don’t think you understand that all of the comments about the “good of the party” were generated by you. You think the only way Hillary can benefit the party is to resign.
I don’t think you know who you are asking to go away. This is someone who has actually worked for the good of her party. Her supporters are people who will actually work for the good of the party.
“for the good of the party” is not a campaign slogan designed to eliminate Hillary.
For some of us it actually means something… did last time.. did the time before that… i tried to think back to how many presidential campaigns i have witnessed.. participated in.. and sometimes worked for… all i can say is that it is a lot… and hillary has been at it longer than me.
i never called you mindless… i said that republican labels were affecting our party politics…
if you think that makes you mindless.. that is your problem.
I admit to being susceptible to advertising.. and i will bet that i question it a lot more than you do.
I haven’t done much name calling.. i have just tried to refute the endless steam of mislabeling that has occurred lately.
beachdrivegirl.. if you truly don’t respect Hillary.. then tell me why… but don’t be repeating slanders and using labels to do so.
tell me exactly what this person has actually done to lose your respect.
because i told you exactly what Barak Obama has done to lose mine.
And he didn’t lose it till the last couple of days.
And it had nothing to do with what some pundit had to say about him.. and everything to do with what he actually did… all by himself.
March 13, 2008 at 1:17 am #616346In reply to: Hummer Houses
JeannieParticipantP.S. I received a nice response from one of Councilmember Sally Clark’s aides. Part of his email: “Yes, Councilmember Conlin and Clark are planning on addressing the mega-house issue this year. There are houses popping up all over Seattle that, while technically legal, they are obviously out of character with the homes built during a time when “yard” and “tree” weren’t considered four-letter words.”
You can also go down to the Seattle Dept. of Planning and Development’s records library to view the original plans on microfilm.
I don’t know if any of this will do any good, but it’s worth pursuing. My neighbors and I also have “before” and “after” photos showing how the Hummer House destroyed our view.
March 13, 2008 at 12:50 am #617233In reply to: La Rustica is good, but frustrating
beachdrivegirlParticipantLaRustica had a minor fire this past (early) fall and dragged their feet a bit with their reopening..why? to do a few updates to the kitchen so hopefully that is what Charleston cafe is doing… and Keith i was there last night too who knows we may have seen each other!
March 13, 2008 at 12:45 am #617232In reply to: La Rustica is good, but frustrating
WSMomParticipantI think LaRustica is okay, but I too LOVE Bistro Baffi!!
On a different note, I’m worried for the Charlestown Cafe. I wonder if the owner of the building is dragging his feet in repairing the fire damage in order to force the business to close. How long can the owner and employees wait until they run out of money and time? If I’m correct in my suspicions, then this situation seems unjust.
March 13, 2008 at 12:40 am #617231In reply to: La Rustica is good, but frustrating
KeithMemberMy guy and I ate there last night, inspired partly by this thread and motivated partly by the $15 off coupon that arrived in yesterday’s mail. woo hoo!
The food was quite good and the service was great. I found the prices not unreasonable, but maybe just a little bit high for what’s being served and the funky, sardine-like setting. It’s definitely close quarters but not unbearable. My biggest issue was that it was so dark I could barely see my food. But it tasted good!
March 13, 2008 at 12:39 am #617094WSMomParticipantBTW: Have you rented “Across the Universe” yet? Wonderful!!
March 13, 2008 at 12:38 am #617093WSMomParticipantTry to see it my way,
Do I have to keep on talking till I can’t go on?
While you see it your way,
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone.
Chorus:
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
Verse #2
Think of what you’re saying.
You can get it wrong and still you think that it’s all right.
Think of what I’m saying,
We can work it out and get it straight, or say good night.
Chorus:
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
Bridge:
Life is very short, and there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it’s a crime,
So I will ask you once again.
Verse #3
Try to see it my way,
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong.
While you see it your way
There’s a chance that we might fall apart before too long.
Chorus:
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
Bridge:
Life is very short, and there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it’s a crime,
So I will ask you once again.
Verse #4
Try to see it my way,
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong.
While you see it your way
There’s a chance that we might fall apart before too long.
Chorus:
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
Please wonderful West Seattlites…WE MUST WORK IT OUT!!!!
March 13, 2008 at 12:30 am #586549Topic: Admiral Car Ranchers – Rant
in forum West Seattle Rants & RavesMrJTMemberWho ever the guy is with the “Police Car” Posse.. Do you really need to leave all four of them parked in random (obiously to skirt parking laws) places between California to the West, 35th to the East and Between Charleston and Andover. I see them every where when walking the dog. I’m having a great time logging right in and turning your plates in to get that beautiful orange tag slapped on. I hope your enjoying scraping them off as much as I am getting them put on there !
March 13, 2008 at 12:26 am #617092beachdrivegirlParticipantYou dont respect Obama. We Obama supporters have no respect for Clinton. It is a very sad point for the Democratic party. We will be lucky if there is still a Democratic party come 2009.
March 13, 2008 at 12:22 am #617091JoBParticipanti am a sad sad woman. I just heard on BBC that Geraldine Ferraro has resigned as finance director of the Clinton campaign due to the public furor over the misrepresentation of her remarks.
A furor created by the Obama campaign.
I am not happy with Hillary for accepting her resignation. There is a time to say enough is enough… and i think she should have.
It’s too d…m bad i care enough about this election to work regardless of the democratic candidate because i sure don’t respect Mr Obama very much.
March 12, 2008 at 11:24 pm #617090villagegreenMemberA fair amount of saracasm and the occasional insult is endemic to most blogs. This is actually one of the most polite blogs I’ve ever read. Seattlites in general need to ‘toughen up’ (as JoB would say). Not everyone is going to play nice all the time. Deal with it.
March 12, 2008 at 11:04 pm #617089AnonymousInactiveBTW, when were you insulted?
March 12, 2008 at 11:03 pm #617088AnonymousInactiveYour sarcasm is not cute or funny. I am not a Democrat, but I admire JoB. And for not even being an Obama supporter, you sure got yourself in a tizzy.
Listen, I don’t want to go down this road, Kayleigh. I just don’t think there is a need to be so one sided and defensive. You feel strongly about Obama and what he can accomplish, that’s understood. But don’t come down on JoB because of her posts. They are always informative and well written, which is appreciated by someone who enjoys reading all viewpoints.
March 12, 2008 at 10:57 pm #617087KayleighMemberNewResident, I am actually an Edwards supporter, so you really don’t know what you’re talking about.
I’m trying to adopt the pro-Hillary thinking. It’s been hard, but I’m coming around now, thanks to being insulted and treated to long-winded irrational defenses of her.
In fact, I think I’m going to go write her a campaign donation check now. To honor her brilliance, strength, and support of the party.
March 12, 2008 at 10:56 pm #617086AnonymousInactiveI agree that all Dems should unite, regardless of their candidate, if they have any chance of winning.
I, too, am not ecstatic about McCain, but your link was refreshing in the sense that, here is someone making their own stance on issues.
At least McCain is out there DOING something and not just squabbling over words in some interview.
March 12, 2008 at 10:51 pm #617085JanSParticipantwell, the point of the McCain thread wouldn’t exactly be “Go McCain”…unless we meant it as “go away” – lol. The House, if I understand from previous postings, isn’t exactly crazy about the Rep. candidate (correct me, Jon, if I’m wrong)…
I just think it’s time for the Dem. supporters to put the attention where it’s gonna be needed real soon…the opposite party…and leave the picayune ( I don’t really mean to belittle the arguments pro and con) squabbles to be worked out. We will have a Dem. candidate…one or the other…and we WILL have to support that candidate no matter what…it’s time to unite…
March 12, 2008 at 10:36 pm #617084AnonymousInactiveJanS – I am all for starting that “Go McCain” thread, but to be honest, I think I’m secretly kinda waiting for House to take the initiative. I definitely know when someone is smarter than myself and more eloquent.
House, you out there?
