wsChic – Actually, I wasn’t being serious. But the nest building theory does seem plausible. I’ve seen a lot more birds in my yard lately gathering items for nests (I have 3 evergreen trees and many other plants they can use). I watched one bird carefully cut off a piece of branch from my lilac tree just outside my window.
