Re: RANT: Assault on SW Morgan. Where are the cops???

#694989

I was assaulted on the downtown waterfront while I was at work last september by who I believe is a homeless man. We called 911 and it took them 3 hours to get there. I was really shaken up and wanted to go home but I knew they need me to talk to them so I waited and waited and waited. In the meantime, some of my coworkers followed the man all the way down to Wall Street so they could inform the police where he was and they could pick him up. However, they ended up having to come back and the man assaulted 3 more people that day (not to mention the one before me), even punching one of them. It is neglect like this that gets people hurt by someone that police know is unsafe to be out walking around. When the police finally showed up, it wasn’t because they were responding to the call. My HR manager ended up running into a couple bike cops just riding along and he told them what happened. I wish the Seattle Police could create a better reputation by showing up when needed to prevent situations like this from worsening. It was very lucky that nobody was hurt bad enough to require medical attention.
