When I meet someone new, I don’t ask what they are — but I’m pretty sure they know what I am within 2 minutes of talking. I’m not great at small talk and it doesn’t take long for a politics-tinged event to appear somewhere in the vicinity and I say something and we’re either off on a stimulating discussion of our varying opinions or they blanch and I look for the exit.
Actually, Jan, I didn’t realize this until your excellent description — of how “normal” people behave. :-)
