I’ve never been to one of the silent book club events but was thinking of checking it out.  But there’s almost too many places to choose from :)Any tips for a newbie as far as trying to pick a spot?  Do any of them get too crowded where it’s tough to even get a seat?

We’re so glad you can read with us! Every location is wonderful and has a different ambiance and menu; some readers choose based on the book they’re reading and others go back to the same location month after month. Otter on the Rocks, C&P Coffee, and The Nook tend to fill particularly quickly. Wherever you go, we recommend showing up a bit early. We’ll share in our Instagram stories when a location fills up if you’d like to follow along there (@silentbookclubwestseattle).

Hi David! I’m one of the location hosts for Silent Book Club West Seattle and so happy to hear you’re interested! All of the locations are lovely and welcoming, so I’d say to try whichever place speaks to you the most :) Location spots may fill up quickly, so if you’re able, I’d recommend arriving a bit earlier. If you have Instagram, the SBCWS Instagram account also shares updates when a location has reached capacity. I’ll be at West Seattle Grounds tonight, and each location has wonderful hosts in case you have any questions or need assistance – we hope to see you and that you enjoy!

Most places are dim with few reading lamps, so it’s best to bring a reading light. Pick a location that’s familiar and you’ll find it operating like normal except there will be an hour of pure silence with perhaps some background music. A bit creepy/unsettling if you just happen to wander in on it 😁

Saw these messages too late :( Tried going to the Nook and then Grounds last night and they were all filled up.  Ran into a couple more people who said Bebop was also filled and drove by Otter on the Rocks and saw people getting turned away there too.Who knew there were so many readers in West Seattle :)
