Both concerts will have a reception following, and will be at Chief Sealth International High School 2600 SW Thistle

Celebrate 20 Years of Musical Excellence with WSCO and Soloist Freja Johnson!

The West Seattle Community Orchestras (WSCO) is thrilled to announce its 20th-year celebration, marking two decades of bringing the joy of music to the West Seattle community. WSCO is hosting two concerts, the first on May 23rd from 6-7 PM featuring the Beginning Strings, Debut Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and May 25th from 7-9 PM with the Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra.

Both milestone events promise an enchanting evening filled with nostalgia, remarkable performances, and a touch of youthful brilliance. Freja Johnson is winner of this year’s WSCO Young Soloist Competition, and will perform with the Symphony Orchestra, performing the grand finale of Tchaikovsky’s mesmerizing Violin Concerto. Freja Johnson, a current junior at The Downtown School, who has already made a name for herself in the musical realm. Having started playing the violin at the age of four, Freja’s passion and dedication have propelled her to remarkable heights. She was an active member of WSCO from 2017 to 2021, immersing herself in the vibrant community and honing her musical skills. Under the guidance of Debra Zadinsky, Freja’s talent has flourished, earning her a place in the prestigious Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra. Her musical journey has also seen her participate in her school’s student-led ensemble and perform in the illustrious 2023 All-Northwest Honors Orchestra.
