The Spin Quartet returns to Seattle for two shows in July, and to record a new album. Featuring drummer Kobie Watkins (Sonny Rollins), bassist Clark Sommers (Kurt Elling), and a horn front-line of Geof Bradfield and Chad McCullough, this all-star group will return for two shows in the Seattle area.

The show in West Seattle is on July 26th at Locol Barley & Vine, 10 pm (special show – space is very limited, 21+)

Seattle native (now living in Chicago) Chad McCullough will return to Seattle with his new group, The Spin Quartet at the end of July. Featuring some of the top professionals working in modern jazz, the group has formed a cohesion over the past 10 years of working together in various settings throughout the world. Called “The best in the business” (examiner.com), the Spin Quartet brings together drummer Kobie Watkins (several albums and tours with jazz legend Sonny Rollins), bassist Clark Sommers (current bassist with grammy-winning vocalist Kurt Elling), saxophonist Geof Bradfield (two-time Chamber Music American /new jazz works/ grant recipient), and trumpeter Chad McCullough (back in Seattle for these performances) for
their chord-less modern jazz that has played to sold-out crowds over the past two years. Featuring new music, written for the upcoming album, this mini-tour will culminate with a recording session, engineered by grammy-nominated Floyd Reitsma (Dave Mathews, Pearl Jam, Audioslave, etc…).

About Chad
Chad McCullough is one of the fastest rising modern-jazz trumpet players on the scene today. Now living in Chicago, IL his sound has been described as “one of the most honest approaches to trumpet in modern
jazz” (Oregon Jazz Scene). His group with Belgian pianist Bram Weijters has released several albums internationally and will appear at the Krasnodar Jazz Festival in Russia this fall. McCullough will also be featured at this year’s FONT Festival in New York City, curated by Dave Douglas. He frequently collaborates with Deloitte Jazz Competition Winner (Europe’s Monk Contest equivalent) pianist Michal Vanoucek, and tours and records with the international collaborations of Tunnel Six, and The Kora Band.

In recent months he has performed with drummers Kendrick Scott (Terence Blanchard, Herbie Hancock), and Michael Shrieve (Santana, Rolling Stones) and is proving his musical versatility throughout the country.
He is an endorsing artist for Hub Van Laar trumpets (Netherlands) and Facet Mutes (US). More at www.chadmccullough.com
