Puget Soundworks concert

Puget Soundworks is proud to present “Down to Earth”, a concert that celebrates the beauty of our planet and a call to action to protect our home. The concert will feature spoken word performances, classic protest songs, and climate anthems that reflect the challenges of the ongoing climate crisis. Featuring songs by Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Louis Armstrong, Sam Cooke, Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, Melissa Etheridge, and Smashmouth. Other songs with words by Ysaye Barnwell, Chief Seattle, Hopi Elders, and 3 amazing young people: Greta Thunberg, Autumn Peltier (clean water activist from Ontario), and Mari Copeny (activist from Flint MI).

The concert will take place at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle on Friday, April 28th at 7 pm, Saturday, April 29th at 7 pm, and Sunday, April 30th at 3 pm. The concert will also be available online on Friday, May 19th at 7 pm, Saturday, May 20th at 5 pm, and Saturday, May 27th at 3 pm.

“We believe that art has the power to inspire change, and we aim to create space and understanding for that change,” said Kate Huisentruit, Executive Director of Puget Soundworks. “In coming together with our community, we have the chance to inspire action towards protecting the beauty of our world while acknowledging the urgent need to address the ongoing climate crisis.”

All performances will have accessible floor seating and all-gender restrooms. ASL interpretation will be available at the Saturday, April 29th performance. The organizers are also offering a limited number of sliding-scale Community Admission tickets for each performance.

Guests at live performances must wear masks while inside the performance venue. The organizers have also implemented several health and safety protocols to ensure the safety of all performers and attendees.
