The highly acclaimed Northwest Boychoir announces their Choral Tradition series for March 2019. Now in its fifth season, Choral Tradition celebrates the breadth and diversity of the classical choral repertoire.

This year’s program will feature John Rutter’s Gloria, and great choral works by Brahms, Debussy, Lauridsen, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Orff and Rheinberger for both treble and SATB male chorus.

About the Northwest Boychoir

The Northwest Boychoir’s musical sophistication, rich tonal quality, and dedication to exacting perfection have established its reputation as one of the nation’s premier children’s choirs. Along with Vocalpoint! Seattle, the Northwest Boychoir has trained thousands of young singers for more than 40 years, and more significantly, shaped the lives of our region’s youth by teaching important lessons in personal commitment and the value of teamwork. Led by Joseph Crnko, now in his 35th year as Music Director, the Choir’s staff of professional musicians and educators is engaged in the teaching of a rigorous curriculum that trains young singers, 6-18 years old, to be fully-skilled musicians who sing at the highest professional level, read music fluently, and perform in professional settings with confidence.

For more than 30 years, the Choirs have maintained a close working relationship with the Seattle Symphony and participate annually in the performance of great choral works. Last February, the Northwest Boychoir joined with the SSO to perform Vivadi’s Gloria, and then in March returned to Benaroya Hall for performances of Orff’s Carmina burana. The following month, the Boychoir again collaborated with the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Symphony Chorale for performances of Stravinsky’s Perséphone. The Northwest Boychoir will perform the Debussy Nocturnes in Maestro Morlot’s Farewell Concert with the Seattle Symphony in June.

Last June, the Northwest Boychoir presented their annual classical series, Choral Tradition, featuring Michael Haydn’s Missa Sancti Aloyssi and Francis Poulenc’s Gloria. At the end of the year, the Northwest Boychoir was honored to perform with Music of Remembrance when they presented their 20th Anniversary concert at Benaroya Hall. The Northwest Boychoir closed its season with eight performances of its 40th season of A Festival of Lessons & Carols, including a presentation with Northwest Sinfonia at Benaroya Hall.

Along with a very active performance schedule, the Northwest Boychoir is regularly contracted for recording engagements. Last year the Northwest Boychoir recorded the soundtrack for the motion picture Prospect, and can also be heard in Cirque du Soleil’s Volta. The Northwest Boychoir serves as the official “Singing Ambassadors” of Washington.
