Nature Consortium will host a Volunteer Appreciation Party on Saturday, September 13, 11 am–1 pm at Pigeon Point Park (behind Pathfinder K-8 School).

Volunteers are the driving force of Nature Consortium’s local habitat restoration work. Without them, none of our amazing progress would be possible. In 2014 alone, over 1,400 volunteers have contributed over 5,300 hours of habitat restoration work with Nature Consortium in the West Duwamish Greenbelt. That’s an amazing feat! Please join us for a family friendly Volunteer Appreciation Party in the great outdoors. In addition to live music, food, and art activities, the event will also feature an award ceremony to recognize some of our outstanding volunteers.

Nature Consortium’s Urban Forest Restoration Program is committed to restoring Seattle’s largest remaining forest, the West Duwamish Greenbelt. This important ecological resource spans nearly 500 acres on the eastern slopes of West Seattle and includes 182 acres of public park land. Since 2003, Nature Consortium has brought volunteers and community members together to help restore habitat in the forest by removing invasive weeds, amending soil, addressing erosion issues, and planting new native trees and shrubs.
