Retired Pathfinder K-8 PE teacher Lou Cutler returns to the school for his annual birthday run to raise money for Make-A-Wish – this year, 68 laps since he’s turning 68. His announcement:
Each year, as my birthday approaches, I have a pre-birthday celebration by running/walking the number of laps that correspond to my upcoming birthday. This year I will turn 68, and I will run 68 laps – that’s 11.4 miles! I will be accompanied for much of the run by over 500 students, staff and parents from the Pathfinder Community
The run began as a way for me to be thankful for my own good health while also encouraging my students to be physically active and give back to the community. Over the years, we have raised more than $70,000 for Make-A-Wish and I have no plans of stopping!
On Friday, May 31st, at 9:05 A.M., I will enjoy the best day of my year, as I witness the entire Pathfinder community come together to raise money to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Each year I draw on the bravery and inspiration that I derive from my interactions with Make A Wish kids and families and the fantastic encouragement and support I receive from the Pathfinder community to carry me through the final most difficult miles.
