The first total solar eclipse in almost 40 years will cross the US on August 21. Join Dennis Schatz, nationally recognized astronomy educator, for an interactive presentation, Saturday, August 12, 2017, 3 – 4pm.

In Seattle, more than 95% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon passing in front of it. Learn when the eclipse will occur, how to view it safely, and why it has been so long since we’ve seen a total solar eclipse. His children’s book about eclipses, “When the Sun Goes Dark,” will be available for purchase and signing. For all ages.

This program is part of the Library’s 2017 Summer of Learning program, Blast Off to Space!
