Christmas Day Bird Walk in Lincoln Park

Get outside Xmas afternoon! Enjoy an informal Bird Walk with a volunteer Naturalist at Lincoln Park. We’ll MEET at the Fireplace @ Shelter #3 (down by the water). Park in the South Lot.

No experience necessary; all levels of expertise are welcome!
No Dogs please. The birds thank you.

1:00 – 1:15 pm- Arrive with hot beverage in hand and warm up by the fire for a little before we we head out.
1:30 pm – Bird Walk departs. We’ll be out until about 3:00-3:30 depending on conditions.

BRING:
*Binoculars (or scope!) if you have them
*Xtra Clothing layers (especially on your feet) since it will be crisp and chilly on Saturday with perhaps even a snowflake or two.
*For Covid safety: A Mask / sanitizer & we will practice social distancing as much as possible.

BIRDS:
We’ll look for winter birds both on the water and in the forest.
We’ll likely see wild ducks and waterfowl, Juncos, Song sparrows, Chickadees, winter Finches, Corvids, woodpeckers and Bald eagles and who knows?

Note: Children will best enjoy this outing if they accustomed to walking slowly and standing quietly for long periods of time.

It was a pleasant surprise to see not only a red tailed hawk but also a bald eagle on the walk. Most birds were probably settled down for the cold front that’s coming in. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and a great walk for the community members to participate!
