West Seattle, Washington
22 Sunday
After a bit of a hiatus, we’re starting to adding new chapters to the West Seattle 101 (note the “tab” link on our header) section here on WSB. WS 101 is the all-things-West-Seattle book written by Lori Hinton, who’s been sharing selected chapters here on WSB since this past spring. Today, we add Lori’s story about Take Back Your Time Day, a national movement with strong West Seattle support, and the official observance is less than two weeks away – though the philosophy is something you can start applying immediately. The full WS 101 on WSB archive is here. Watch for more additions.
The sun’s coming back someday. Maybe even this afternoon, the forecast suggests. So we’re adding three outdoor-fun chapters to the West Seattle 101 (note the “tab” link on our header) section here on WSB. WS 101 is the all-things-West-Seattle book written by Lori Hinton, who’s been sharing selected chapters here on WSB for the past few months. Today, we add Lori’s stories about Westcrest Park Off-Leash Area for dogs and their people, the blazing beach fires of Alki, and historic Colman Pool (which reopens Saturday for its third and final preseason weekend); the full WS 101 on WSB archive is here.
The author behind one of our newest WSB sections — West Seattle 101 (note the “tab” link on our header) will be at the West Seattle Farmers’ Market today; you can meet Lori Hinton. and talk to her about the “West Seattle 101” book, which will also be available for purchase. In honor of this, we’re adding the West Seattle Farmers’ Market feature from Lori’s book to the list of “West Seattle 101” stories available on WSB; read it here, and see the full WS 101 on WSB archive here. And as always, we want to bring you this week’s Farmers’ Market fresh sheet — here you go:Read More

One week after we debuted a new addition to WSB — our new section (note the “tab” link on our header) with selections from the popular book “West Seattle 101” by Lori Hinton — we’ve added two more features from the book; while Lori was checking for updated information to add to the original copy, she discovered some news. The newly posted “West Seattle 101” features are about geocaching (read it here) and the much-talked-about Thai restaurant Buddha Ruksa (read it here). While checking on Buddha Ruksa’s hours, menu, etc., Lori got the scoop on its new beverage additions. You can find all five “West Seattle 101” features published here so far by going to the WS 101 on WSB “home page,” and we’ll add more to the list next week!
“West Seattle 101” author Lori Hinton just saw one running down her Upper Fauntleroy street. “Right past a ‘Coyote Warning’ sign,” she adds. (By the way, we will add two more pages tomorrow to our new “West Seattle 101” section featuring selections from Lori’s book – including a spotlight on one of WSB readers’ favorite restaurants – look for the official announcement in the morning.)
We are celebrating the first full day of spring with a new addition to WSB — a new section (note the “tab” link on our header) with selections from the popular book “West Seattle 101” by Lori Hinton (right). We’re committed to continually expanding the amount of West Seattle-related news, information, and discussion we can offer you, so when Lori contacted us to see if WSB might be an additional place for people to find her stories, it sounded like a no-brainer to us. “West Seattle 101” began as a series of columns Lori wrote for the West Seattle Herald and grew into a book. As we start this partnership by publishing three features from the book (they’re linked from the WS 101 on WSB “home page” here), we also have Q and A with Lori so you can get to know her better:Read More
