Happy “Dump the Pump Day” 2008

dumpthepump.jpgEvery day on the calendar has a promotional tie-in … National Chocolate-Covered Pickle Day, Worldwide Sing While Standing On Your Head Day, and on and on … but today’s is worth a note: “Dump the Pump Day” is meant to encourage you to try transit. This year, gas prices could certainly be an impetus – on Dump the Pump Day “Eve” last year (6/20/07), this WSB report showed the 35th/Avalon 7-11 at $2.99 for regular; as of our latest West Seattle-wide weekly survey Sunday night, that grade at that station was $4.33, up $1.34 in a year. We were already planning to use transit today (Water Taxi-ing downtown to cover the city Design Commission presentation on Myrtle Reservoir Park); if you need more convincing, Metro offers suggestions here. And the American Public Transportation Agency offers you the online game Whack-A-Pump.

Screw Dump the Pump Day. When was National Chocolate-Covered Pickle Day?

Why no WSB entry on that? Because if there was somewhere in WS that I could get one, well I might just have to try it.

My thoughts exactly Jimmy. If you find out where to get your hands on one, see if they’ll do a choco-peanut butter style too.

Apparently they’ve gone to the novelty-food graveyard. Paragraph 5.

Maybe we can take the water taxi over and try to bribe somone at rmcf to sneak one in with the strawberries.

Gee I wonder if the “Rotund One” took the bus or water taxi today???
Or anyone else in the city or county council???
Let them LEAD BY EXAMPLE. They want everyone to take transit…LET THEM START and just maybe other will follow!!!!

Maybe we can get the good folks at Full Tilt to offer up some tasty chocolate covered pickles!

i just got rid of my vehicle a month and a half ago…now a transit rider for the first time in 10 years! liberating as well as a pain in the ass.
but oh…the money i’m saving by not driving to target on a whim 4 to 5 days a week! anyhoo…i’m beginning to like the bus and rediscovering lots of great music on mp3.

I got rid of my car as well this spring, you should try a bicycle, I love rolling past the gas station. It takes me about 45 minutes less to go the same 13 miles to work by bicycle than on the Metro, even in the worst rain with the heavy bike.

    Chocolate covered pickles? Really?
