Search for missing man expands to West Seattle

missingman.jpg

Citywide media has been reporting on the search for Nicholas Francisco. This morning we got a note saying searchers will be in WS today putting up this poster and asking us to run it too; he lives in South Seattle with his pregnant wife and their two children but according to the note, they attend church in West Seattle. (The note didn’t say where, but blog posts mention Mars Hill.) As the poster says, if you have any info, call 911. ADDED 4:55 PM: Here’s a website focused on the search.

This is truly one of the weirdest things yet. There has got to be more to this story than what we’re seeing so far. Federal witness? Alien abduction? Another Cougar Mountain episode? There’s just too much not right with this one.

This is very wierd. The wife’s composure is even more disturbing. Good point credmond, he is probably gonna show up after his nap under the leaves.

Guys, I have to tell ya, having been in news media since dinosaurs walked the earth, you just can’t ever draw conclusions or speculation about these things. One recent case – Tanya Rider. (If you can’t place the name, here’s a file article.) Many of my fellow newsies were sure she’d simply fled her home and her life; police didn’t start a search right away because they’d gotten conflicting information about whether someone was using her debit card. She wound up discovered in her crashed car in a ditch, near death. Could have happened to this guy too. And not all victims’ relatives are totally freaked out and teary when they do interviews.

Criticizing the wife’s composure is so out of line I don’t know where to begin. Does anyone moderate these comments?

I agree. Is there some requirement for the level of hysteria appropriate for victims’ families? She wasn’t very composed in the news clip I saw, not that it’s of any significance one way or the other.

This is a very strange case indeed. I hope for the sake of the family, more so his children, that Nicholas Francisco will be found alive. Most of the time, knowing our children need us, will give us the strength to remain composed in the worst situations. I admire this young mother for trying to stay strong for their children. Before jumping to conclusions, remember, not all information is released to the public.

How dare you say that my composure on TV is disturbing. Are you here with me everyday while my husband is out there missing? You have never even met me. The news is very kind in cutting out all my breakdowns during interviews. Also I have God’s strength right now. If I’m sobbing how would anyone understand what i’m saying. And I have to “pretend” around my kids. They need me to be strong right now as they are going through as much hell as I am. So don’t you even think for a second you know how i feel and how i should react. you are being cruel.

Viliamu Fale went missing from the same area the day after Nicholas Francisco did- yet there has been no news coverage about him. He is 30, 5′9″ 310lbs and is married.

Christine has been all over the net saying they are broke, and saying money is what they need most when asked if people can help in anyway. I am not saying to give or not give money, I am saying that people need to ask these questions- because something is not right with this story

I’d still like to hear what police agency is involved in the search for Mr. Fale. Again drawing on my years in old media, I can tell you that traditional news organizations are invariably quick to jump on stories about missing people UNLESS one or both of these factors are present — either police say or strongly hint that it’s not likely a case of foul play, OR family/friends won’t cooperate with media and therefore there’s not much that can be said about the search, no photos of the missing person, etc. If information has been sent to traditional media organizations, I’d love to see a copy of the release/announcement and evaluate it for myself. Our contact info is all on the “contact” page from the tab above.

exactly bjones, why is she asking for money from everyone?

  • mama129 February 23, 2008 (9:41 am)

I Cannot imagine having a husband missing. I used to get so worried when my husband was late getting home, nearly going crazy with the worry. But, he always came home, late or not.
So having him not come home for days/weeks would be so absolutely devastating!

I, too, would be needing money if that happened, especially when many of us live paycheck to paycheck.I do not have relatives with $$ to give me either so yes, I might reply too, when someone asks what can they do to help, that I need $$.

We are praying for a good outcome for this family!

Sorry, comment time is over.
