More than three years after its first Design Review meeting, Golden Crest – the mixed-use (36 residential units over 4,000 square feet of retail) project at 4532 42nd SW, next to Capco Plaza – won final Southwest Design Review Board approval tonight. ADDED 2:11 AM: Some details from the review meeting – read on:

After the last review in April (WSB coverage here), one of the major issues remaining was how the building would work at street level. That’s where much of the discussion was focused. One item that had come up before: The plan for 3 steps down to one of the building’s three retail storefronts. Two are flush with the sidewalk, but because of the sidewalk’s slope, one retail spot in the building is almost two feet lower than the others, so there will be three steps down to the entrance.
.
Junction Neighborhood Organization president Erica Karlovits brought up another sidewalk concern – its varying widths, ranging from six to nine feet. Board members agreed it would be better to have the sidewalk be a uniform 8-foot width.

They also expressed approval of the newly revealed facade materials, as well as newly centered windows on the building’s top floor. Here are the facade materials they were shown:

If you didn’t see it in our preview earlier this week, here’s the full presentation prepared for the meeting. The official project page on the city website is here.
