Paving update: Onward & northward

The latest phase of the Cali repaving continues to march north; while two-thirds of the blacktop is now replaced on the south end of the work zone, removal work is heating up from PCC northward, and now the area is on alert that Cali’s intersections with three more streets will be blocked off at various times over the next week or so: Hanford, Lander, Stevens.

I was at the Admiral Safeway over the weekend and noticed what looked like old railroad ties laying in a pile in the middle of the construction work – were they from the old street car line and just buried in place when the street car line was taken out of service?

I noticed that too .. probably from the old street car line.

A street car would be so nice in WS. I took the bus the other day and what would have been a 20 min walk took me 40 minutes.

Yeah, the bus (and driving) is a joke trying to get down California Ave most hours of the day, especially now with the repaving effort. A couple of years ago a round trip on California between Morgan to Admiral took me about an hour. Needless to say I altered my route .. but I wonder how long it would take now with all the condos that have popped (pooped) up on CA AVE?

Sorry, comment time is over.
