Hot dog stand in West Seattle – and summer’s nowhere in sight

Yes, that’s a hot-dog stand outside Beveridge Place Pub in Morgan Junction. Something new they’re trying for the next month, said April, when we called to check on what we thought we saw. Heading back down now for a photo. PHOTO AND INFO ADDED 5:35 PM: The cart’s from Hot Dog Joes, which has carts in other spots around the city. That’s Drew staffing the one outside Beveridge Place Pub tonight. He says they’re planning to be there Thursdays through Saturdays, setting up around mid-afternoon (3ish) and staying till late night (maybe as late as 11). Their suppliers include Bavarian Meat and Hebrew National; chicken and veggie dogs too. Prices start at $5.

I miss the old Corner Inn, along with Chuck and Sally’s but, Beveridge Place and the coming Feedback are great improvements for neighborhood bars. Glad to see food at Beveridge Place too.

OMG, the healthy eating is officially done. Having this thing like, four blocks from my house is going to be a disaster for my waistline. (Maybe if I jog those four blocks??) Can’t wait to try it!

    this rules

    Great idea!
Darn cold day to start, though. :D

I have a craving for a Chicago style hotdog.

  • poc February 26, 2009 (6:46 pm)

    Can’t wait to support it!

$5 for a hotdog? seriously? Pay $6 and amazon fresh will bring you 7 hebrew nationals to your door.

  • p February 26, 2009 (7:13 pm)

Oh lord, I agree, there goes the rest of the waist line, given we are about 5 blocks away…..

I couldn’t imagine spending $5 on a hotdog. If I’m already at Morgan Junction and wanting junk food, I could get a whole meal off the McDonald’s dollar menu and still spend less. Wow, that’s an unbelievable price.

but when your drunk stumblin at last call! its the deal of the lifetime!! ha ha ha

For those who say there diet is gone with the added hot dog cart. Walk out of your way so you get an extra block in. :)

$5 for a hot dog should be in the “crime watch” section!

  • p February 26, 2009 (8:33 pm)

its not cheap to operate a cart like that. Sure $5.00 is a lot, but what about your grande latte with flavor, etc that costs almost 5.00…. Plus, you are supporting a small local business, rather than some giant monopoly of a fast food chain.

  • elgrego February 26, 2009 (10:03 pm)

Yeah… $5? Seriously? Five? I’d rather pony up a little extra and go across the street for a gyro. By the way, I tried that Greek place (Kokoras?) for the first time this week and it was seriously some of the best Greek food I ever had.

    Yeah!!!! Street life in Seattle!

Yeah street food! I’m not so into hot dogs but just to do my part to support a bare pulse of life on the streets of west Seattle and Washington, I’m going there and eating me a hot dog.

Next up: Flea market/free trade/dog show/beer tent in the woefully vacant chain linked automotive center of west Seattle.

Where there is hope there is life.

Ooooo, I *love* hotdogs! And five clams is nothing for a nice piping hot one with all the stuff on it AT the BPP.

    I’d hit it! ;d

  • Bayou February 27, 2009 (8:50 am)

I love this idea and BPP needs more food options nearby… However, after looking at Hot Dog Joe’s on Yelp, I’m wondering why West Seattle has to pay more than Belltown? Nearly everything on the menu is a dollar more, including “two additional dollars to add chips and a drink”- where Belltown stand is $1 extra.

Hot Dog Joe’s was ok, but not worth the price. Seattle needs Chicago style Vienna Beef hotdogs. I miss Portillos.

  • RS February 27, 2009 (2:33 pm)

PORTILLOS!! Thanks, elgrego, I now have drool on my keyboard. Sigh.

And I totally agree with transplantella. WS and Seattle in general need to take a page out of Portland’s book and get some food carts up here, post haste!!

  • justme February 27, 2009 (3:17 pm)

    More food carts at Alki!!
    5.00 for a hotdog….it better be BIG!

  • HA February 27, 2009 (7:36 pm)

Matt’s has great Chicago dogs. Closest one is on marginal way and 4th by Boeing Field.

  • Gary @ BPP February 28, 2009 (7:56 pm)

BPP is excited to have Hot Dog Joe’s as a partner. They serve high quality sausages, made by folks like Bavarian meats and Cascioppo Bros. These aren’t wimpy dogs by any stretch, plus you can get cream cheese on ’em – YUM!

Sorry, comment time is over.
