West Seattle Crime Watch: “Home invasion” robbery, victims hurt

Posted at SPDBlotter: Two people broke into a home in the 1200 block of SW Myrtle (near Riverview Playfield; map) late last night and held residents at gunpoint, beating two of them before getting away. Police say they first found out about it when one of the victims was driven to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. We’ll be checking for more info on this beyond what’s in the blotter entry. We’re also likely to hear more at tonight’s West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meeting (7 pm, Southwest Precinct, all welcome). ADDED 12:37 PM: A few more details from Lt. Steve Paulsen at the precinct: “4 adult and 1 child victims were inside. There was an assault on two of the male victims which required hospitalization.. Some of the stolen items were recovered a short distance from the home. No suspects have been arrested yet.”

We live in this neighborhood, and earlier this month had our car “broken into” and had minor items stolen. Broken into –> the one night we forgot to lock it, sure enough someone walked up our driveway & obviously tried opening our car — and got lucky.

Typically a quiet neighborhood — but not lately I guess.

I’m a night owl, and have been waiting for a repeat offender — think i’ll call 911 if I do catch’em. [initially thought it was kids/punks as they didnt rip out the stereo — just took the $6 latte tip $$ from the console]

I’m sorry this has happened and hope everybody will be ok.

    Troy –
Do you guys have an active Block Watch group yet on your street? You don’t need to respond here and advertise it on WSB, but if not or if you just aren’t sure one way or the other, WSB has EXCELLENT Resources on the Crime Watch tab located under the top banner. The links are listed under Crime Resources at the bottom of the page.

Officer Benjamin Kinlow is the Block Watch go-to-guy.

YES! Call 911 if you hear ANYthing, whether you think it is kids or not. SW Precinct tells us all of the time to call when we see anything that seems odd or out-of-the-ordinary.

Way to keep an eye out for your street.

You got to wonder why they did not call 911?

The updates are what I added. No suspect description at this point, I asked about that. If anything more is available when I’m at the precinct tonight for the Crime Prevention Council, I will file another update – TR

So the victims didn’t call 911 BEFORE they drove to the hospital?

  • JimmyG January 20, 2009 (5:31 pm)

It’s likely the victims in this case weren’t random targets, and the suspects hit the house for a specific reason.
Random home invasions are a rarity.

This is scary – more details would be great like how did these guys get in???

umm, re no call to 911, didn’t i see that the victims’ phones were all taken…course i guess that would leave neighbors with phones….hmmm
