West Seattle Weather Watch: “Wind advisory” till 9 pm

wiredown.jpg

We’ve seen bursts of heavy rain and some bouts of breeze already today … but it’s likely to get worse, says the National Weather Service, in issuing this “wind advisory” that’s in effect till 9 pm. 4:56 PM UPDATE: Here’s the link to check for the latest power outages listed by City Light. We’re just back from Burien and environs; power was out to some businesses near Burien City Hall, and we saw a big SCL presence at 1st/152nd. Some “wires down” calls show on the live 911 log, including one right now in the 2200 block of SW Orchard (map). 6:45 PM UPDATE: Photo added from “wire down” – it’s over by the taco truck/Vietnamese Cultural Center spot north of Home Depot.

It’s been blowing fairly hard here since Noon. I’ve already gone out and raked mondo tree foliage out of the curb line in case another rain storm hits.
Just saw the KIRO7 news truck drive by.

We have some down trees behind our house, we’ve moved the cars and will probably leave the house for a while just incase.

Wind advisory means news cameras at Alki Point.

We saw two windsurfers at Lowman Beach and then two guys on actual surfboards just around the corner from Alki Point, on the west side! Crazy!

Reminds me of the bad wind storms last year. I’m going to take inventory on some of my storm essentials, water, food, flashlight, etc.

50 year old tree down on my parking strip.See my offer for free wood on the forum page. Some teens that live in my neighborhood helped me to drag quite a few limbs out of the street until my nephew-in-law arrived with a borrowed chain saw.

Send pictures! We have a roving crew out looking for visuals at the moment but nothing beats the pix of what’s happening where you (that goes for everyone) are.

I don’t have a digital camera, or I would! There sure were a lot of kids taking photos with their flip phones when it fell!

Wind’s blowing and gusting so hard south of Alki Pt. that the wall of this old house is bowing in and out. Creepy. Hope we make it through the winter in one piece…

We were up north all day and didn’t see any outages until we got into the Northgate/Greenlake area – tons of traffic lights out and stores closing due to no power along Aurora. Came home and saw a neighbor’s garbage cans tossed all over the alley. Fortunately things are okay here.

Anyone need some horse chestnuts? They all came off the two trees in front today. There has to be thousands. Anyone up for a game of Conkers?

I can’t wait to watch KING5 News at 10 on KONG16 to see if Danger Jim is out and about !

That’s 6/16 :) We’re holding out till 11 pm because of course it’s the lead-in to Saturday Night Live, which is never better than during an election season … Anyway, glad to hear of no major WS problems. Wasn’t exactly a major storm but it did seem to give City Light crews a chance at a not-so-dry run in case we have a tough winter.

Todd-LOL. It isn’t a bona fide event or disaster without Danger Jim!

Sorry, comment time is over.
